(2004) (March 17) Following a settlement reached on March 16 before an arbitrator could rule on his free agent status, Owens joined the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles send a 5th-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens, which got Owens from the San Francisco 49ers on March 4 - the same day he agreed to terms with Philadelphia - and DE Brandon Whiting to San Francisco. His agent failed to file papers voiding the final years of his contract by a February 21 deadline. The NFL players union then filed a grievance after Owens protested the trade and refused to report to the Ravens for a physical.
