James 'Arg' Argent has been eliminated from 'The Jump'. The 'Only Way is Essex' star has become the latest star to leave the competition after recording the lowest air jump and failing to impress during the earlier gruelling snow cross challenge. During the air jump eliminator, Arg recorded a height of just 8.06m, considerably lower than Brian McFadden's 9.41, Sid Owen's 9.04 and Mark-Francis Vandelli's 9.09. However, only the reality TV star and former Westlife singer Brian jumped live, as their fellow competitors' pre-recorded leaps were taken into account as both men were injured during the Snow Cross. Giant cowbells and fur-lined lycra: in the log cabin with The Jump's sleb skiers

5 February 2016 5:07 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Why would you risk life and limb for reality TV? We head to the alps for apres ski with this year’s (surprisingly famous) contestants

Halfway up a mountain in Austria, a ferocious blizzard is blowing, though you wouldn’t know it from the party going on in the rickety log cabin nearby. Inside, Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards is flapping his arms wildly, while Davina McCall rings a comically oversized cowbell. Brian McFadden sits at the bar in fur-lined Lycra, looking like a cross between Buffalo Bill and Mr Motivator. An oompah band parps out the same five-note motif over and over, adding to the sense that this is some Alpine-themed purgatory. Welcome to the set of the Jump, the celebrity winter sports competition, and one of TV’s stranger reality shows.
