Mini Biography

Natalino Otto was a great singer in Italy from 1940 to 1962 (when he retired). Jazz has always been his musical inspiration, as a matter of fact, after a long stay in New York from 1932 to 1935, he brought "Swing and Jazz" Music to Italy where he started to perform singing with Gorni Kramer's Great Orchestra. From 1950 he became a musical publisher ("Bolero" was the trade mark of his company) and produced many talented singers in the mid '50s (e.g. Fred Buscaglione, Mina). Before establishing his personal music label in 1960, "Telerecord", he was under contract with one of the top Italian record Companies, "Fonit". He recorded 2000 songs in 20 years of carrier. Just to mention a few: "St.Louis Blues", "Biriei", "Polvere di stelle ("Stardust" italian version), "Mamma voglio anch'io la fidanzata", "Birimbo birambo", "Domani la rivedrò", "In cerca di te (solo me ne vo per la città)", "La classe degli asini", "Mamselle", "Vendo ritmo", "Lungo il viale", "Fidanzatina", "Laura" and many many others. He had a very personal style in singing: he performed as well in popular songs (E.g. "Mamma voglio anch'io la fidanzata") as he did for Swing and Jazz Music. The press still considers him the best Italian crooner.

In 1955 he married another famous italian singer, Flo Sandon, well known for the hit "Non dimenticar (che t'ho voluto bene)", in 1951 (10 million records sold worldwide) of which Nat King Cole performed a wonderful English version, years later. They had a daughter in 1956, named Silvia (nowadays European Independent TV/Cinema Producer).
