Dyana Ortelli was born on May 1, 1961 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico as Dyana Elizondo. She is known for her work on American Me (1992), ¡Three Amigos! (1986) and La Bamba (1987).
Frustrated by the lack of positive roles for Latino actors in Hollywood, she began doing stand-up comedy in clubs throughout the Los Angeles area. Her East L.A. "cholita" character, Ramona from Pomona, is now a favorite with Latino audiences everywhere. Ortelli, as she is known to her friends, has performed at The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Ice House & The Laugh Factory, among many other comedy clubs. She is also a member of 'The Hot & Spicy Mamitas'. Comprised of five of the hottest Latina comediennes in the nation, the groundbreaking comedy group recently released their self-titled comedy CD.
