Interview: Parental Advisory–Romany Malco Raps ‘Unsupervised’

9 February 2012 4:01 PM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

We recently were able to get in on a call with Romany Malco, star of Unsupervised and The Good Wife. Before this successful year, Malco could have been seen making Milf marijuana in Weeds and the comic book fanboy/assistant D.A. George St. Cloud in No Ordinary Family. He also has an alter ego as a prison inmate-turned motivational speaker Tijuana Jackson. And if you’ve been asleep for the past seven years, you will undoubtedly remember him as one of Steve Carell’s badgering co-workers in 40-year Old Virgin. Malco is entrepreneurial, passionate and is refreshingly approachable on the Internet. Flipping through his twitter, facebook and tumblr pages show how engaged he is with his fans and the actor is planning a project where he will jump on a tour bus to meet those within his social network around the country and document his trip on camera.

5 Reasons To Watch FX’s New Animated Series ‘Unsupervised’

2 February 2012 6:54 PM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Many animated shows struggle to find their stride and their true identity in their first season. Family Guy was not an instant hit. Neither were The Simpsons. But in all successful series you can always see through the rough spots and see a good show coming through.

FX’s Unsupervised is having that kind of start in its first season. Gary (Justin Long) and Joel (David Hornsby) are best friends but don’t have any idea or direction in life due to their lack of supervision. There’s a lot of potential, some well-written jokes a fun voice cast, and some great visual gags, but after tonight’s nod to baseball, “Field of Dreams… and Dogs” there still remains a little unevenness. Hang in there though because there are at least five reasons to stick with first season to see if they can tighten up the show.

TV Review: FX’s New Animated Series ‘Unsupervised’ Offers Fresh Take on Teens

19 January 2012 7:47 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – It’s tough being a high school freshman nowadays. Your parents either don’t pay enough attention to you or they pay way too much. There’s peer pressure everywhere — smoking, partying, getting laid. What happened to just playing with toys and jumping off the roof? FX’s “Unsupervised” attempts to turn these tumultuous days into humor and partially succeeds. Tonight’s premiere has its moments but it follows an amazing half-hour of animated TV in “Archer” and will pale in comparison.

Television Rating: 3.0/5.0

Let’s talk about what really matters — is “Unsupervised” funny? There are undeniably clever lines and smile-producing twists of character well-voiced by an extremely talented cast of actors. But great animated comedies are more than just a string of jokes — they come together on another level in terms of plot and character. Mediocre animated comedies are joke, set-up, joke, set-up, joke, etc. While there’s »

"Alcatraz" - Monday January 16, 8 p.m. Et/Pt, Citytv/Fox

A gruesome murder turns up a strange suspect -- a prisoner at Alcatraz who was supposed to have died 30 years ago, but appears to be alive and un-aged. Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia and Sam Neill play a trio of TV standbys (detective, secret agent and comic book geek) who unearth a Dharma-sized conspiracy in this new attempt from creator J. J. Abrams. Tonight is a two-hour premiere; next week look for the show at 9 p.m.

"Are You There, Chelsea?" - Wednesday January 18, 9 p.m. Et/Pt, Global/NBC

I don't know why this show, based on Chelsea Handler's earlier books, decided to cast Laura Prepon as Chelsea and Chelsea Handler as her own sister Sloane, but I have a feeling it doesn't matter -- this thing is doomed. I knew it when I heard the character of Shoniqua had been excised, »
