Grey's Anatomy Recap: April Suffers a Crisis of Faith

29 January 2015 8:00 PM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

It may have been a while since Grey's Anatomy aired its winter finale, but don't worry - the doctors of Grey Sloane Memorial still relate way too much to the traumas that get wheeled in to the ER. April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) were still reeling after learning that their unborn baby has a fatal condition, and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) was as hot-and-cold about her relationship with Derek (Patrick Dempsey) as ever. However, she may have found a new Person. Or, well, a suitable stand-in, anyway. Also, as ever, Dr. Herman (Geena Davis) is not here for anyone's Bs. »

Viola Davis & Uzo Aduba Make SAG History: Both Lead Actress Titles Won By Black Women

25 January 2015 8:28 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Viola Davis won the outstanding lead drama actress prize at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role in “How to Get Away With Murder.” Davis is just the third actress of color to nab the title.

Sandra Oh of “Grey’s Anatomy” won the award in 2005, followed by Chandra Wilson in 2006, who won for the same show. Those two victories — along with Davis’ — were all for series produced by Shonda Rhimes.

The award for outstanding comedy actress also went to an African-American performer — Uzo Aduba won her first-ever SAG award for her work on “Orange Is the New Black” at the Jan. 25 ceremony, marking the first year both winning lead actresses were African-American.

Ugly Betty’s” America Ferrera won for lead actress in a comedy series in 2006, and was the first Latina to score the prize.

Viola Davis’ Powerful SAG Awards Speech Might Make You Cry

25 January 2015 8:00 PM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

There’s no doubt in our minds — that was the best speech of the night!

Viola Davis stole the spotlight at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild awards when she won Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama for her work on the freshman drama How to Get Away With Murder.

The second-time winner took the stage in a gorgeous white gown, and spoke of how her 4-year-old daughter, Genesis, asks for bedtime stories – but that she always includes one special request: “Mommy, can you put me in the story?”

Davis said, “It starts from the top up,” and thanked Htgawm's executive producer Shonda Rhimes and creator Pete Nowalk. "Thank you… for thinking that a sexualized, messy, mysterious woman, could be a 49-year-old dark-skinned African-American woman who looks like me."

With tears in her eyes, the star continued, "Thank you to all the people who love me, exactly how God made me."

People’s Choice Awards: Full List Of Winners

8 January 2015 1:40 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Last night, Hollywood dished out its People’s Choice Awards featuring the best from the worlds of film, television and music. As always, the awards are a little more unique than most at this time of the year as they are voted for by ‘the People.’ There are a few surprises in there; for example Maleficent bagging favourite movie, but the awards really do display the appetites of the general Us cinema going public.

What was great was to see Betty White pick up the Favourite TV Icon award (see below), and be escorted to the stage by Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

Robert Downey Jr also picked up his fourth consecutive People’s Choice Award and declared his love for people and movie, and apparently wanted to ‘eat the audience up’ in his rather touching speech…

Here are the full winners.

People’s Choice Awards help Adam Sandler, 'Divergent' finally get their 2014 dues

7 January 2015 10:38 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Since 1975, the People’s Choice Awards have been sidestepping the critics, guild members, Hollywood insiders, and anyone who could potentially earn the "professional" label to play litmus test of the general public. Anyone can vote using the Pca’s online, paving the way for a populist read on pop culture. What can we gather from the 2014 results? For one, the country is watching different movies. "Maleficent," "Divergent," "22 Jump Street," and actors like Melissa McCarthy, Adam Sandler, and Jennifer Lawrence. all earned love from the 2015 People’s Choice Awards, which hand out a bevy of genre-specific awards. There’s a little crossover with the circuit — "Gone Girl" picked up a Best Thriller statue — and then there are wins that feel a bit more artificial. "The Judge" star Robert Downey Jr. hasn’t been in the Best Actor conversation since people saw "The Judge" in September. But, hey, a Pca pick-me-up never hurt anyone. »
