Last week during the Olympics, Disney and Lucasfilm finally gave fans what they have been waiting a very long time for, dropping a new, full-length trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The trailer debuted a bunch of new footage, and most importantly, gave us our first look at Darth Vader's return. Now, less than a week later, an International trailer for Rogue One has surfaced, with some bits of new footage, and some very important new dialogue.
A Rogue One Japanese trailer made its way onto YouTube Monday, which is a very welcomed surprise given how recently the North American cut of the full-length trailer debuted. In this latest sneak peek, there are a few surprises to take in, including additional dialogue that reveals a pretty big Star Wars secret. How did the Rebels get their hands on the info about the upcoming Death Star weapons test? Mon »
Mon Mothma may not be a familiar name to many outside Star Wars' devoted fanbase, but the ethereal Rebel leader did get one of the most memorable lines in the whole franchise: "Many Bothans died to bring us this information." Nevertheless, Mothma's role in Return Of The Jedi was distinctly brief, and the character wound up on the cutting room floor in Revenge Of The Sith.
Thanks to the first trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One, however, we already know that Mon Mothma has a role in the forthcoming spin-off, and that she'll be played by Genevieve O'Reilly - the actress who previously played Mothma in that deleted scene in Revenge Of The Sith. (Mothma was played in Return Of The Jedi by Caroline Blakiston. »
It has been a big week for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story reveals, with plenty of character and story details arriving alongside some absolutely stunning new photos. Today, we get an even closer look at the plot, along with some sure to become iconic images from this first Star Wars spinoff. This time, the focus is on returning character Mon Mothma, who was first introduced in Return of the Jedi. We also get an awesome fiery shot of a Death Trooper.
Mon Mothma is a former senator responsible for uniting disparate planetary systems who have come under the tyrannical rule of the Galactic Empire. She is sometimes known as 'The Mother of the Rebellion', and was first introduced way back in 1983's Return of the Jedi, where she delivered the pilot debriefing before the raid on the second Death Star. She also had a small role in Revenge of the Sith, »
Genevieve O'Reilly, who first played the role ten years earlier in a deleted scene from "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith," reprises it in the new film in what was suspected to be just a cameo. Turns out she has a significantly larger role than that. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy tells EW:
"We actually see quite a bit of her. The Rebel alliance is in disarray. Pretty panicked. Up against it. And she is trying the best she can to provide the leadership, in amongst a wide variety of Rebel soldiers that have very differing opinions as to what to do."
That's not all though, several more photos from the project have been »

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer hit this morning, and it is simply amazing! The perfect blend of old and new as the first spinoff arrives from director Gareth Edwards. While it has long been rumored that Darth Vader or Boba Fett might show up in this sneak peek footage, it was another iconic character that completely took fans breath away. Simply because she doesn't look to have aged a day since we first saw her in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi over thirty years ago.
Yes, that is Mon Mothma you see standing in front of that familiar neon green command center. First introduced in Return of the Jedi, Mothma served in the Galactic Senate and Imperial Senate as the representative of Chandrila, the leader of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and the first chancellor of the New Republic. At the end of the Clone War, »
The first trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One is officially here. We take a closer look at what it all means...
If The Force Awakens had one herculean trial to undertake - relaunch the Star Wars franchise for a new generation of moviegoers - then Rogue One has a mighty task of its own. This is, after all, both a spin-off from the numbered Star Wars entries and also a prequel to 1977's A New Hope.
As history has already taught us, Star Wars sequels aren't necessarily easy to get right.
What Rogue One does offer, however, is the possibility of opening up the Star Wars universe in ways that were previously confined to books, videogames and other media. Director Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) has pitched his movie as a mash-up of Dirty Dozen and space opera; its basic plot involves the Rebels' attempt to steal »
The first trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" just arrived with a rebel yell and some welcome throwbacks to the Og era.
"Good Morning America" debuted the teaser trailer for the first standalone story in the "Star Wars" universe, which stars Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk, and hits theaters in December.
Felicity Jones's Jyn takes center stage, like Daisy Ridley's Rey in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." We hear a younger Mon Mothma describe Jyn as on her own from age 15, reckless, aggressive, undisciplined. "This is a rebellion, isn't it?" Jyn quips. "I rebel."
Damn right, she does, and she accepts her mission: A major weapons test is imminent, and they need to know what it is and destroy it. This story is set just before the events of Episode IV, "A New Hope, »
