Father of the Bride stars then & now: From Steve Martin to Kieran Culkin

16 June 2014 10:15 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

It's currently being reported that Steve Martin will be reprising his role as cynical businessman George Banks in Father of the Bride 3.

Martin is tipped to return alongside Diane Keaton as wife Nina Banks in the comedy, which will see the couple's son Matty revealing his plans to marry the son of a Us Navy Seal.

1991's Father of the Bride was based on the 1950 movie of the same, while 1995's sequel was loosely based on 1951's Father's Little Dividend.

As we anticipate a potential Part III, catch up on the major stars' exploits since - and compare how they looked then and now:

Steve Martin

Steve Martin - already an established Hollywood name before Father of the Bride - plays hapless patriarch George Banks, who suffers a series of ridiculous misfortunes (and a mild breakdown - the too-plentiful pack of hotdogs springs to mind) after his daughter announces that she's getting married. »

2014 Emmy Nomination Contenders - Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

14 June 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Reminder: For our annual Emmy contenders coverage, Sepinwall does his personal preferences, while I handicap mostly in terms of likelihood of landing nominations. As usual, the first six slides in each gallery are my nomination predictions. The next eight or nine slides are the actors and shows most likely to sneak in, based on precedent, quality or something nebulous. And then at the end of each gallery, I tend to throw in a couple oddballs who have no chance at all of being nominated, but who I think deserve to be a part of the conversation, or might accidentally become part of the conversation, just because. Our next category: Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Unlike the Supporting Actress in a Comedy category, which has the influx of talent from "Orange Is The New Black," as well as other sources, Supporting Actor in a Comedy is pretty flat. The Modern Family Cast Turns Work Into Fun in the Sun

21 February 2014 7:17 AM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The Modern Family cast is hard at work filming on location in Sydney, and they hit iconic Bondi Beach for a hilarious scene on Friday. Sofia Vergara led the pack in a multicolored, one-piece swimsuit, splashing around (and screaming) with her costar Ty Burrell as he got "attacked" by a huge blue jellyfish. The hijinks didn't stop there, though - Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez's characters get a surprise when they find that the beach is filled with topless sunbathers casually passing them by. For the rest of the cast - including Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Julie Bowen, Ed O'Neill, and youngest cast member, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons - it was all fun in the sun. This award-winning cast knows how work and play hard. In addition to seeing the stars working on the beach, a few of their significant others were spotted, too. Sofia had her fiancé, Nick Loeb, with her during the trip, »

The secret Emmy agony of Ed O'Neill ('Modern Family,' 'Married... With Children')

12 February 2014 6:46 PM, PST | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

In "Married ... with Children," Ed O'Neill played one of TV's biggest losers and, as bad luck would have it, he continues today to reign as one of the biggest losers of TV's top award even though his current show, "Modern Family," has won the Emmy as Best Comedy Series four years in a row. What gives? Does Hollywood secretly hate O'Neill? He's never won an Emmy, while his current costars have been hailed generously: Ty Burrell (once), Eric Stonestreet (twice) and Julie Bowen (twice). "Married... With Children" was one of TV's longest-running shows never to snag a single Emmy. Between 1987 and 1997, it was nominated on seven occasions in the tech categories, but got slapped down every time. A few Emmyless programs ran longer (“Ozzie and Harriet,” “My Three Sons,” “Baywatch”), but today its lofty place in TV’s pantheon as one of the tube’s biggest losers is not »

Ed O'Neill cracks uncomfortable joke about Ariel Winter's estranged mom at 2014 SAG Awards

19 January 2014 12:00 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

This might make for an awkward day on set.

While speaking to the press backstage at the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday (Jan. 18) after the cast of "Modern Family" scooped up the Outstanding Comedy Ensemble, star Ed O'Neill joked about co-star Ariel Winter, raising a few eyebrows in the process.

After one journalist asks the female stars of the series what beauty knowledge they've gleaned from their mothers, O'Neill quickly quips, "Ariel should take this one."

Of course, O'Neill was referencing Winter's estrangement with mother Chrisoula Workman, whose custody she was removed from in November 2012 over allegations of physical and emotional abuse.

Winter seemed unfazed by the bizarre joke, smiling before letting co-stars Sarah Hyland, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara field the question.

Do you think O'Neill's joke was out of line? »

'American Hustle,' McConaughey, and Blanchett Top SAG Awards

18 January 2014 8:10 PM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

The Screen Actors Guild Awards honored the casts of AMC's "Breaking Bad," ABC's "Modern Family," and David O. Russell's "American Hustle" while singling out the leads of "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Blue Jasmine." For the latter features, the wins for Matthew McConaughey, who received an Actor statuette for his portrayal of Ron Woodroof in the AIDS drama, and Cate Blanchett, who won for her performance as a New York socialite in Woody Allen's feature, could foreshadow the results of March's Academy Awards. Both performers are nominated for Oscars and the SAG Awards are often a precursor to the industry's highest honor.  Saturday night's ceremony will be remembered for honoring some of the best ensembles in recent television history. ABC's "Modern Family" has become a shoe-in after winning the ensemble comedy honor the last four years in a row. Still, actor Ed O'Neill said it's a challenge to maintain the series' high standards. »
