Between 1904 and 1906, Nance O'Neil was a close friend of Lizzie Borden, (who stood trial for the axe murder of her father and step-mother). There were rumors that they were lovers.
Her father, a religious zealot, publicly denounced her in church for becoming an actress.
Had a reputation for being a free spender and was often in financial strife.
Started her screen career with William Fox in 1915.
