Set in 1973, the action movie follows a team of explorers and soldiers who mistakenly stumble into the domain of the mythic Kong while traveling to an uncharted island in the Pacific.
"It's huge and we're talking about one of the greatest myths of all time," Larson says in a behind-the-scenes clip. "I couldn't resist."
Unlike past King Kong movies, the 27-year-old Oscar winner doesn't play the typical damsel in distress, but instead is a photographer on a mission, trudging through an untamed wilderness.
In fact, the movie's filming locations in Australia, Hawaii, and Vietnam were so off the beaten path that Larson and her stylist had to improvise her red-carpet looks during last year's awards season »

Britney Spears fans are a force to be reckoned with.
Katy Perry learned this the hard way on Sunday, when she seemingly poked fun at Spears' infamous head-shaving incident in 2007. Et spoke with the 32-year-old singer on the GRAMMYs red carpet ahead of her performance, when Perry talked about her new blonde 'do and appeared to throw a little shade at Spears in the process.
"I was just telling you that it's like, the last color in the spectrum that I can do," Perry told Et's Nancy O'Dell and Kevin Frazier. "I've done all of them and the only thing left to do is shave my head, which I'm really saving for a public breakdown. I'm down for that."

Reba McEntire knows that when the right thing comes along, she'll recognize it.
The country star appeared on The View on Wednesday, where she opened up about her 2015 divorce from her husband of 16 years, Narvel Blackstock, revealing that she's yet to get back out there since the split.
"I haven't had a date yet," the 61-year-old singer admitted, noting that it's been "a year and three months."
"It's sort of like a dress, a song," she added. "You'll know it when you see it."

It seems the 9 to 5 crew is too busy with their real 9 to 5s to give us a reunion!
Dolly Parton presented her friend Lily Tomlin with the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday night, after Jane Fonda was unfortunately too sick to attend the night's festivities -- and while Parton's tribute couldn't be sweeter, it only left us -- and Tomlin -- yearning for an appearance by the singer on Tomlin and Fonda's Netflix show, Grace and Frankie.
"We're trying [to get her on the show]," Tomlin told Et's Nancy O'Dell on the red carpet. "She has so much stuff this year that I don't know if she's going to be able to do it."
"Jane and I both want her on the show. [We would be] very, very excited to have her on the show," she added. "One of these »
Emma Stone was awarded by her fellow actors with the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for La La Land on Sunday, but her adorably fumbling acceptance speech had even her co-star, Ryan Gosling, bemused.
Racing against the countdown clock urging her to wrap up her speech, the 28-year-old actress lost her train of thought at one point, joking, "I forgot everything that I have ever thought in my life."

Gosling's reaction is all of us.
But ever the professional, Stone got back on track, thanking director Damien Chazelle, and her co-star.
"Ryan, you're the best. That's just the truth. No one can argue it," she said.
She's not wrong, but the 36-year-old actor seemed a little embarrassed by the praise.

Looking dapper in an all-black tuxedo, Black-ish star Anthony Anderson stepped out at the SAG Awards on Sunday with his wife, Alvina Stewart -- the couple's first red carpet appearance since calling off their divorce at the end of last year.

Et's Nancy O'Dell caught up with the couple on the red carpet to see how they were feeling.
"It's fun," Anderson said. "It's been a while since we've been on a red carpet together, but we're here tonight so we're excited about it."
With all the nominations Anderson and Black-ish have been racking up lately, Stewart said her husband was too busy to let the kudos go to his head -- but she may have been playing it safe for the cameras!
Lily Tomlin's indelible mark on film and television was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild on Sunday.
The celebrated star was presented with the award by country music icon and 9 to 5 co-star Dolly Parton. Jane Fonda, who stars with Tomlin on the hit Netflix dramedy Grace and Frankie, was scheduled to present, but was forced to cancel due to strep throat, Tomlin told Et's Nancy O'Dell on the red carpet.
Tomlin, like so many others at this year's show, got political in her speech, but managed to use her razor wit to bring levity to the seriousness of the political climate.

"What a week this has been though, so you are kind of anti-climactic," Tomlin said, standing next to her award. "The doomsday clock has been moved up to two-and-a-half minutes before midnight! [So] This award it came just in the nick of time."

This is the stuff that relationship goals are made of.
"We need to actually put pen to paper and get it produced because people wouldn't believe it," the This Is Us star told Et's Nancy O'Dell about the couple's relationship. "The multitude of ups and downs that we went through before we finally got together and figured it out. [We] have been together solid since April 2004, [but] all the stuff that happened before that, it's a good movie."

While plenty of Moore's famous pals have been mourning her, Et spoke to her friend, celebrity pet hair stylist Lee Day, who told a particularly heartwarming story of how the groundbreaking actress once saved her life.

Moore portrayed an independent woman working in news in the 1970s hit sitcom, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and a decade later, Bergen got the opportunity to portray a tough female TV journalist on Murphy Brown.
"Mary Tyler Moore really opened the door for women not defined by a relationship, for women trying to have a career," Bergen told the Today show on Thursday, a day after Moore's death. "[Her show] also opened the door to quality television, because the writing was so exceptional and had such depth and was character-driven."

Speaking with Et's Nancy O'Dell by phone on Wednesday, Winfrey couldn't help but get choked up while reflecting on the late TV icon's life and legacy.
"What I'm grateful for is that, in my lifetime, I was able to share with her what her presence in television had meant to me as a young, growing, aspiring reporter," she said.
