'Evil Dead' director Fede Alvarez in 'Dante's Inferno' talks

Fede Alvarez has entered talks for Dante's Inferno.

The Evil Dead director is in line to helm Universal Pictures' video game adaptation, reports Deadline.

The Electronic Arts action game was based on the legendary Italian poem The Divine Comedy.

It saw writer Dante Aligheri drawn into a battle between heaven and hell.

Former Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham will produce with EA Entertainment vice president Patrick O'Brien.

Uruguayan director Alvarez made his feature debut with the remake of Sam Raimi's cult horror Evil Dead.

Universal acquired the rights to the adaptation after Dante's Inferno's release in 2010.

Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez is in talks to direct Dante's Inferno, an adaptation of the Electronic Arts video game for Universal Pictures.

The project has been in development for many years, with Universal securing the rights to the game in 2008, two years before its release. The game is based on the famous literary work, following Dante Aligheri, a knight who teams up with the poet Virgil to rescue Dante's lover Beatrice from the nine rings of hell. He eventually becomes a pawn in a war between heaven and hell.

Jay Basu (The Dinosaur Project) wrote the most current draft of the screenplay, with Bruce C. McKenna writing an earlier draft. Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing alongside EA Entertainment vice president Patrick O'Brien. No production schedule was given.

When rumors flew that Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, John Milhiser, and Noel Wells would join the Saturday Night Live cast for the sketch comedy program's 39th season, I wasted no time in connecting all four of these players to their various roles on YouTube. As it turns out, the official list of new arrivals has even deeper ties to online video. All five new cast members have featured prominently on the Internet, and one of the new writers is partially responsible for a classic YouTube web series. For the uninitiated, Bennett and Mooney have a 179,000-subscriber audience for their Good Neighbor sketch channel. Wells also sports an 11 million strong viewcount on her channel, best known for the six episodes of Hey! The Zooey Deschanel Show. Milhiser doesn't have a channel of his own, but since he was first linked to SNL, he has starred in several videos on Above Average. »

Michael Keaton Boards Need for Speed

Michael Keaton has joined the cast of DreamWorks' video game adaptation Need for Speed.

The story centers on a street-racer (Aaron Paul), who teams up with a rich and egotistical business partner (Dominic Cooper) that sets him to take a fall for a crime. After being released he joins a cross country race to exact his revenge. He ex-partner finds out about his scheme and places a bounty on his head, sending him through a gauntlet of bounty hunters.

Michael Keaton will be portraying the reclusive and eccentric overlord of the race, who recruits the best drivers in the world to partake in his event. Scott Waugh is directing from a script by George Gatins. John Gatins, Mark Sourian and Patrick O'Brien are producing.

Need for Speed comes to theaters February 7th, 2014 and stars Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper. The film is directed by Scott Waugh. »
