In a 2003 interview with The Times-Picayune of New Orleans, Ms. Nye was asked to name the favorite role of her career. "None of them," she said. "I only became an actress so I wouldn't have to cook or make a bed."
Primarily a stage and Broadway actress, she has appeared in such classics as "Macbeth," "As You Like It," "Ghosts" and "The Importance of Being Earnest." She won a Tony nomination as Best Supporting or Featured Actress (Musical) for her 1965 performance in "Half a Sixpence."
