Spike Lee Is Set To Direct "Gold"

Spike Lee has come onboard to direct the rags-to-riches tale "Gold" for Black Bear Pictures.

The story follows a rough-around-the-edges prospector who stumbles onto one of the largest gold mines in the world in the Indonesian jungle.

Patrick Massett and John Zinman penned the true story based on the 1993 Bre-x Mineral Corporation mining scandal. Shooting is expected to start before the end of the year.

Massett, Teddy Schwarzman, Paul Haggis and Michael Nozik will produce. Though previously linked, Michael Mann is no longer involved.
