One of the most maligned productions in recent memory (well, since The Cabin in the Woods) is likely Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Based on the best seller by Seth Grahame-Smith, the project has gone through three directors in two years, and a handful of potential cast members. It's been pretty quiet on the news front - so what's going on with it? We went to the source - Seth Grahame-Smith - and asked him what was going on with the project. Here is his exclusive answer: "In it's relatively-short development history, it has been a rocky road. We've lost three directors in two years. I have to say, we have a great script. It was originally written by David O. Russell, and then Marti Noxon did a great »

Just above is the logo for Disney's new animated short film Paperman via the film's official Facebook page, which I first mentioned back in February and is likely to play in front of Wreck-It Ralph on November 2. Along with that we get the following plot description: Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with Paperman. Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, »

Jennifer Lawrence is currently in talks to star in an adaptation of gossip columnist Jeanette Walls’ 2005 bestselling book “Glass Castle: A Memoir” for “The Hunger Games’” studio Lionsgate.
The 21-year-old Oscar nominated actress is in an enviable position in Hollywood. Leading one franchise, “The Hunger Games”, and co-starring in another, the “X-Men First Class” sequel, and with horror “The House at the End of the Street” and comedy “The Silver Linings Playbook” also on the horizon, it is more than likely that she currently has her pick of projects.
But Deadline have announced that Lionsgate, in a move most likely to ensure they keep Lawrence close to their chests, have acquired the rights to “Glass Castle” with the view for Lawrence to star. The book, which was on the New York Times’ bestseller list for a record 261 weeks for a memoir, focuses on Collins’ difficult childhood with her “dysfunctional but vibrant” family. »

Lionsgate will be developing a film based on a memoir by gossip columnist Jeanette Walls called The Glass Castle, and Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to star. Lawrence is blowing up right now, and is landing some pretty incredible role. There are studios even fighting over shooting schedules so that they can get her in their films. As soon as I saw the actress in Winter's Bone, I knew she was going to be a big star. It's just kind of crazy seeing how fast it's happening. It will be interesting to see where her career goes from here.
TV screenwriter Marti Noxon has been hired to write the screenplay, she's worked on series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Prison Break, and Mad Man. The story will focus on her difficult childhood with her “dysfunctional but vibrant” family.

"The Hunger Games" actress Jennifer Lawrence may soon be starring in another tale of survival -- this time in a dysfunctional family rather than a dystopian society. Lionsgate has just acquired the rights to Jeanette Walls' New York Times bestseller "The Glass Castle: A Memoir," and the actress who brought Katniss Everdeen to life on the big screen is in talks to star, reports Deadline.
Walls' 2005 book tells the surprising tale of her profoundly dysfunctional upbringing by two deeply flawed parents whom she seems to still love. It stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 250 weeks, longer than any other memoir.
Gil Netter ("The Blind Side," "Life Of Pi") is set to produce, and Marti Noxon will write the screenplay.

After the phenomenal success of The Hunger Games, studio Lionsgate is looking to stay in the Jennifer Lawrence business, adding the actress to an adaptation of gossip columnist Jeanette Walls' 2005 memoir, The Glass House.
Deadline reports Lionsgate has acquired the rights for the book, which details the unconventional and poverty-stricken upbringing Walls experienced with her "dysfunctional but vibrant" family. The book spent 261 weeks on The New York Times' best-seller list, and with producer Gil Netter (The Blind Side, Water for Elephants) and screenwriter Marti Noxon (Fright Night, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) attached to the project, expect a funny, tragic, yet uplifting adaptation.

Lionsgate have acquired the rights to The Glass Castle, American writer and journalist Jeannette Walls’ tell-all memoir.
Released to acclaim in 2005, The Glass Castle recounts Walls’ and her siblings’ troublesome, poverty-stricken childhood at the beck and call of their intensely flawed and abusive parents, Rex and Rose Mary.
Marti Noxon, best known for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and last year’s Fright Night remake, is attached to adapt Walls’ source material for the screen, bringing with her a unique voice and applauded talent.
What’s more is that Jennifer Lawrence, who starred in Lionsgate’s big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games and received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Winter’s Bone, is being eyed to star as Walls.
However, with a slate as jam-packed as Lawrence’s, it remains to be seen whether this will become an actuality, or whether Lionsgate »

It’s no surprise she’d be first on their list, but: Lionsgate is hoping to put even more stock in Jennifer Lawrence, with Deadline reporting they’ve recently acquired screen rights to The Glass Castle: A Memoir — a tell-all book from gossip columnist Jeannette Walls — and they want her to be the lead. (Not knowing who a person is, after reading the words “gossip columnist,” creates no shame.)
The book — the highest all-time ranked memoir on The New York Times’ best-seller list, as it were — recounts Walls’ upbringing in a family described as “dysfunctional but vibrant,” how alcoholism affected this dynamic, and ways in which she and her siblings coped with all the rifts. Serious material, you see. Gil Netter (The Blind Side) is being set to produce, while Marti Noxon (Fright Night) has been tapped for the script; Lawrence, meanwhile, is in the midst of negotiations.

How do you keep your franchise star happy and in house? Pick up a project to develop for them -- and if it's based on a critically acclaimed, best-selling book then all the better.
Lionsgate has snapped up the rights to Jeanette Walls' "Glass Castle: A Memoir" as a vehicle for their "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawerence. And it's some pretty powerful material. The book -- which stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for over 250 weeks -- tells the true tale of Walls' childhood, which found her raised by abusive, dysfuctional parents. Her mother Rose Mary was creative, but also eccentric and immature, owning land in Texas worth millions (something they found out later) while they lived in deep poverty. At one point after Jeanette had grown up, Rose Mary choose to be homeless for the "adventure." Meanwhile, her father Rex had trouble keeping a job, drank and smoked heavily, »

Exclusive: This is a real departure for Lionsgate which has mostly specialized in testosterone movies. But chalk it up to the success of female-powered The Hunger Games and the stardom of Jennifer Lawrence. As well as the sensibility of Summit’s Erik Feig, who shepherded the Twilight Saga films and is now production president for Lionsgate as well. He’s just acquired the rights to The Glass Castle: A Memoir by gossip columnist Jeanette Walls. Lionsgate made the deal with Gil Netter (The Blind Side, Life Of Pi) who will produce. Marti Noxon is attached to write the screenplay. Critically well received when it was published in 2005, Walls’ book was a surprise because it focused on her difficult childhood with her “dysfunctional but vibrant” family. It was on The New York Times bestseller list for over 250 weeks, the longest for any memoir. »

Deadline has the news, saying that Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Fright Night ) will adapt the text, which is officially described as follows: Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children.s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly. Rose Mary, who »

Mash-up author Seth Grahame-Smith isn't finished writing books (his third novel, Unholy Night, will be published in April), but he's been spending plenty of time in Hollywood. Along with working as a screenwriter for director Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, Grahame-Smith is adapting his second best-selling novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Blending Lincoln's actual history with vampires (or finally revealing Lincoln's actual vampire history, depending in how you want to look at it), Grahame-Smith's book took a more scholarly approach, but as the writer told SlashFilm in a recent interview, the movie version became more action-oriented once director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) got involved.

As a filmmaker, Angela Robinson has made some real flops – she wrote and directed the 2004 spy girl story D.E.B.S, and helmed the Lindsay Lohan Disney vehicle Herbie Fully Loaded, neither of which made a good impression on audiences or critics. On the small screen, however, she’s a highly successful powerhouse, being the co-executive producer behind the acclaimed HBO series’ True Blood and Hung, in addition to writer and producer of Showtime’s The L Word. Now, after a hiatus from feature films, she’s returning to the big screen with the help of some other notable TV compatriots.
Deadline reports that Robinson sold an untitled supernatural teen thriller to Paramount, a project she will write and produce. She’ll be joined by fellow producers Dawn Parouse (née Olmstead) and Marti Noxon, two people who really know supernatural teen subject matter. Previously, Parouse worked on the Fox time travel drama Tru Calling, »
