The Restaurant Man

8pm, BBC2

Russell Norman, the Restaurant Man, really is very cool. He's organic. Where others steam in with a meat cleaver, Russell dispenses wisdom like a waiter unhurriedly uncorking a vintage bottle of Dom Pérignon, all the while fixing you in the eyes with a look that says, "I know how to handle meat." Tonight, he dishes up advice to Dave and Debbie, who have invested all their moolah in a run-down Gloucestershire village inn they want to turn into a gastropub. Can Russell help with their staffing and serving issues? Ali Catterall

Royal Cousins At War

When Europe went to war in 1914, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom had heads of state who were also cousins.

The Restaurant Man

8pm, BBC2

Russell Norman, of London's Polpo and Polpetto restaurants, is the titular Restaurant Man. Eschewing the aggro of a certain craggy chef in favour of a Beeny-esque gentle-nurturing style, he joins budding restaurateurs hoping to realise their dreams.

I am so pleased that Stephen Fry will host the 19th annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles' (BAFTA La) Britannia Awards on November 7. I follow him on Twitter and he is hilarious. The TV Guide Network will have the exclusive Us premiere telecast of the telecast, including thirty minutes of red carpet arrivals featuring Jeff Bridges (to receive their Britannia Award for Excellence in Film), Christopher Nolan (Excellence in Directing), Tony and Ridley Scott of Scott Free Productions (Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment), Betty White (the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy), Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan and more. The show is produced by Jeff Thacker (TV hit So You Think You Can Dance) and directed by Russell Norman (America's Got Talent).

The complete 2010 Black Harvest Film Festival schedule announced

It took a while, but finally the complete and final 2010 Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago has been announced. Over 40 movies in every category from feature film to shorts, documentaries, dramas (such as Bilal’s Stand pictured), comedies and everything else in between. All the films will be screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago located at 164 N. State St in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Opening night is Friday August 6th and the festival continues throughout the month until Thursday Sept. 2 with a special advance screening of Tanya Hamilton’s Night Captures Us with Ms. Hamilton present. Of course I will be there too on most nights, so if you ever had the desire to punch me out for any of my articles on S & A now here’s your chance. (Not that I encourage it though…)
