Jean Nohain was born on February 16, 1900 in Paris, France as Jean-Marie Legrand. He was a writer and actor, known for Raphaël le tatoué (1939), Firemen's Ball (1949) and Radio Surprises (1940). He died on January 25, 1981 in Paris.

Brother of actor Claude Dauphin.

Enlisted during World War II, he served in the Leclerc Division of the Free French Forces. On 23 November 1944 he was wounded by a bullet which left half of his face paralyzed.
Brother-in-law of Norma Eberhardt.
