'Terminator: Genesis' Adds 'G.I. Joe Retaliation' Star Byung-hun Lee

31 March 2014 4:00 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Now that all the primary cast members are locked in, Terminator: Genesis is starting to round out the supporting cast, bringing on Byung-hun Lee (G.I. Joe Retaliation), Michael Gladis (Mad Men) and Sandrine Holt (House of Cards).

No details were given for any of these new cast members' roles, but The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Byung-hun Lee's role, "promises to be a doozy." They join a cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger as a T-800 Terminator, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, J.K. Simmons as a detective who has been obsessed with the Terminator/Sarah Connor case since 1984 and Dayo Okeniyi, who signed on last week to play the son of Cyberdyne engineer Miles Dyson.

The story is said to be a continuation of the original franchise, tying up previous story threads while taking into consideration the passage of time between the two movies. »

Dayo Okeniyi Is Miles Dyson's Son in 'Terminator: Genesis'

28 March 2014 12:02 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The Hunger Games star Dayo Okeniyi has landed the final lead role in Terminator: Genesis, portraying the son of Miles Dyson, Danny.

Earlier this week, we reported that John Boyega (Attack the Block) was vying for that role, just weeks after he was mentioned as a contender to play a Jedi apprentice in Star Wars: Episode VII. As it turns out, Deadline reports that Dayo Okeniyi also tested for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII before taking the Terminator: Genesis role.

(Does this mean Star Wars 7 is casting Boyega? We don't know yet.)

Danny is said to be a Steve Jobs-type genius, who figures heavily into the conclusion of the story. Since Terminator: Genesis is said to be the first in a stand-alone trilogy, which incorporates elements from the previous movies, it's possible that Danny could play a bigger role in subsequent sequels.
