Could Boba Fett Be The Main Villain In Solo: A Star Wars Story?

When it comes to the one and only Boba Fett, it’s currently unclear where the character may appear next. At least, on the big screen. Star Wars fans might recall that a vehicle for the beloved bounty hunter was announced a few years ago, with Chronicle‘s Josh Trank attached to direct. After his career crashed and burned following 2014’s Fantastic Four, however, the Boba Fett movie seemed to have been shelved indefinitely.

Back in August, though, we learned that Lucasfilm was thinking of resurrecting the project, and while it still sounds like they may move ahead with it, there’s been no tangible progress on the pic in quite some time. That’s ok, though, as it looks like we could see Fett show up a bit sooner than expected, as fans have reason to believe he may have a role in Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge talks Solo: A Star Wars Story director switch-up

As we patiently await the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge has become the latest cast member to weigh in with her thoughts on the big director switch-up, which saw Ron Howard coming in to complete the movie after Lucasfilm fired Phil Lord and Chris Miller due to creative differences.

Speaking to IGN, the Fleabag star – who is set to portray the droid character Dd-bd – shared her excitement over getting to work with Howard, as well as claiming that Lord and Miller’s influence will still be felt in the final film.

Top 100 Most Anticipated American Indie Films of 2018: #84. Nash Edgerton’s Gringo

Gringo

He might have a background in back breaking stunt man work (more than two decades worth), but in our books, this Aussie’s true vocation should be filmmaking as a full time gig. Nash Edgerton broke out big in our books well before his feature length film The Square (our interview with him); it’s his short films with the Blue-Tongue films collective in Spider (2007) and Bear (2011) that impressive, sharp, witty and perfectly tuned. Production on Gringo began in March of 2016 with a rather impressive name cast.

Starring his brother Joel Edgerton, this shuffles the deck David Oyelowo, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Yul Vazquez, Thandie Newton, and Sharlto Copley, this pits a mild-mannered American businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) against the elements. Crossing the line from citizen to criminal, Harold tangles with duplicitous business partners, Mexican drug lords, international mercenaries, and the DEA. Hopefully Edgerton’s knack for great timing,

Solo: A Star Wars Story reportedly scheduled for more reshoots

According to an unconfirmed claim, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be undergoing more reshoots in January.

The production issues that have plagued the Han Solo spin off movie are well known at this point, particularly how Ron Howard came in late in the day to replace the film’s original directors, reportedly reshooting much of the film in the process.

The film is set for release this May and while fans are awaiting news of a trailer, a Reddit user (named Hufflepuffins) who has a history of correct reports regarding Solo, has posted that more reshoots are scheduled for the end of January.

While this might sound worrying (if true) on the surface of things, reshoots at this stage aren’t all that uncommon, with the process allowing directors to get some extra shots they need before locking the film down.

So it would seem that a set of

Jay-Z Releases Visual for Daughter Blue Ivy's '4:44' Freestyle -- Watch
Jay-Z dropped another 4:44 music video, and this time Blue Ivy Carter takes center stage!

On Sunday, the rapper released the visual for "Blue's Freestyle," a bonus track off his critically acclaimed album, where his 6-year-old daughter with Beyoncé takes after Dad and drops a few bars!

In the animated visual, Blue seems poised to do a ballerina routine, before a record scratch leads to the tutu'd performer grabbing the mic and wowing the audience with Blue's rhymes instead.

The visual follows the star-studded "Family Feud" video, where Blue made an appearance along with Beyoncé, in the Ava DuVernay-directed, future-imagining family affair featuring, among others, Michael B. Jordan and Thandie Newton.

You can watch both videos below on Tidal.

Donald Glover on the Solo: A Star Wars Story reshoots

We’re presumably only a short matter of time away from our first look at May’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney and Lucasfilm’s second Star Wars Anthology movie, which – like 2016’s Rogue One – has had a bit of a troubled production.

As you’ll no doubt recall, original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from the movie with just weeks of filming to go, with Ron Howard subsequently coming on board to finish the project. If rumours are to be believed, this resulted in around 80% of the movie being reshot, and actor Donald Glover – who is taking on the role of Lando Calrissian – has been chatting to Deadline about the director shake-up.

“It didn’t really,” said Glover, when asked how the production changed when Howard came on board, “I think we were never faced with anything like that and he did a good job

New Han Solo Movie Character Names and Planets Finally Revealed

Even though interest was low leading into December, The Last Jedi is finally out of the way and now everyone wants to talk about the Han Solo movie. The standalone Star Wars adventure is less than six months away from release. Disney and Lucasfilm still don't want to show us anything yet. So we've had to rely on a couple of leaks to get our first look. A poster surfaced on social media that looked too good to be fake. Disney denied it was from them, but now we know otherwise. That same art showed up on leaked Lego sets that will hit stores this summer. While we learned quite a bit about the movie from those sets, a better look gives us previously unknown character names and confirms some of the new planets.

While Disney isn't ready to give fans any substantial info on the Han Solo move yet,

Woody Harrelson And Emilia Clarke’s Characters’ Names In Solo: A Star Wars Story Revealed

Ever since she was added to the cast last year, fans have been eagerly awaiting any reveals about Emilia Clarke’s mystery role in Solo: A Star Wars: Story. The Game of Thrones actress has made sure to choose her words carefully in interviews, with practically the only comment she’s said about the character being: “All I can say is that she’s awesome.” Now, however, we might’ve just discovered not only her name, but the name of Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s characters, too.

As is often the case, this scoop comes to us from a Lego set that was recently outed. The studio has yet to comment on it, of course, but the information here does line up with what we’ve heard in the past and for the time being, we’ll assume it’s on the level. The Best Original Screenplay Oscar Winners of the 21st Century Ranked, From ‘Her’ to ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’
Compare the movies that have won Best Picture at the Academy Awards to those that have taken home Best Original Screenplay and you’ll find that, as often as not, the latter is the more impressive list. Sometimes they overlap, but when they don’t — “Pulp Fiction” and “Forrest Gump,” “Talk to Her” and “Chicago,” “Melvin and Howard” and “Ordinary People” — it almost feels like a tacit admission that the Academy is throwing a bone to the film that’ll be more fondly remembered than the ultimate winner.

It only makes sense, then, that any number of great filmmakers have been honored in this category without ever winning Best Director or Picture: Quentin Tarantino, Sofia Coppola, Spike Jonze. These wordsmiths are worth celebrating, and these are the best — and worst — of them since 2000.

17. “Crash” (2005)

It likely comes as little surprise that Paul Haggis’ surprise Best Picture winner takes last place on this list,

Christian Bale confirms he had talks about Solo: A Star Wars Story

Last year, following the announcement that Woody Harrelson had been cast in Disney and Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, rumours surfaced claiming that Christian Bale had been sought for the role of Han’s mentor in the Star Wars Anthology movie.

Well, the actor has now confirmed those reports in an interview with MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast:

““Yes, [it was] very tempting,” said Bale. “I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

So, while Bale didn’t reveal why he opted to pass on the role, it seems he’s certainly open to a future appearance in the galaxy far, far away, should the opportunity come around again.

Fan-Made Gotham City Sirens Trailer Teases What Could Be

In the wake of Justice League failing to live up to financial expectations at the box office, it seems only natural that Warner Bros. focus on DC films that are more likely to be surefire hits going forward. Obviously, one such entry into the Extended Universe that one would expect to sell more than a few tickets would be that of Suicide Squad 2, but I and many others are still hoping that another movie that’d feature Harley Quinn – Gotham City Sirens – eventually sees the light of day.

I say that because, while I may be an optimist, I’m also a realist. Sure, we may have heard rumblings all throughout 2017 about a flick set to unite Harley with the likes of Catwoman and Poison Ivy, but it’s impossible to overlook that whenever a Dceu film slate is touted at any sort of convention, Gotham City Sirens is

Ron Howard tweets Solo: A Star Wars Story set photo

As has been the way with the tumultuous production, we’d only just finished celebrating the news that John Williams would be scoring Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, when rumours began to surface that Disney are bracing themselves for the kind of cinematic crash-and-burn that’d we’d never have expected from the Millennium Falcon.

Stories have been flying out of this production like a chaotic asteroid field, so it’s nice to be able to report something straight from the source, as Ron Howard released another on-set picture from Solo: A Star Wars Story via his Twitter account.

Happy New Year from Team #Solo. We’re pretty pumped for 2018 pic.twitter.com/Gy3WkkGBiA

John Williams to write the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story

It goes without saying that Star Wars and the name John Williams go hand in hand. After all, George Lucas stated that Williams was the “secret sauce” at Celebration this year with his famous and beloved music for the franchise. Williams recently scored the latest instalment in the series, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and will hopefully score Episode IX, and it has now been announced that he is coming back to Star Wars sooner than expected to craft the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The Han Solo spin-off, which has seen Ron Howard take over directing duties after Lucasfilm fired Chris Miller and Phil Lord – with Howard reportedly reshooting much more than anticipated – has composer John Powell creating the score, but Williams will write the theme for the film and everyone’s favourite scruffy-looking, nerf-herding smuggler. Williams revealed the news in an interview with Variety.
