Best of Late Night TV: Bette Midler's Lip Flip, Jennifer Lopez's Perfume Attack (Video)

5 November 2014 11:30 PM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

Bette Midler was on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night -- and The Divine Miss M is still looking good (divine!) at 68. She talked about her new album, which is a tribute to all the girl groups she loves. Jimmy said he loves girl groups too, and Bette sang a little bit of TLC. In the second video, Bette told Jimmy she'd really like to interview herself. So they did ... a Lip Flip! Halfway through the video, they started singing "Baby It's You" by The Shirelles, and it was as bizarre as you'd imagine. She's a good lip-flipper, though.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan was also on "The Tonight Show, »

Experience of Hosting the Emmys Proves to Be a Mixed Bag

19 August 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Some years, who’s hosting the Emmy Awards proves more memorable than the winners themselves. Sometimes it’s because the hosts were great, but occasionally it’s because they felt flat.

“It takes a lot of talent to host, but it’s a lot of hard work. I’m still a little tired,” says three-time host Garry Shandling, who most recently hosted in 2004. “It’s a fantastical adventure to be hosting. It’s surreal, almost as if it’s animated because the clock is ticking and people are moving; yet you’re doing it live. There are no retakes.”

That is, unless you’re including pre-taped segments, which have become almost de rigueur of late.

Conan O’Brien — who hosted in 2002, 2006, and co-hosted in 2003 with Shandling and nine other comedians, including Ellen DeGeneres — calls a sequence of him running through every nominated show his favorite bit.
