The Australian Director.s Guild has announced the winners of the 2013 Adg Awards during their annual Awards ceremony held on Friday night in Sydney.
Women directors took home several of the coveted awards, with Cate Shortland beating male competitors Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) Tony Krawitz (Dead Europe) and Kieran Darcy-Smith (Wish You Were Here) to scoop Best Direction in a Feature Film for Lore..
Women continued to triumph in the television sector, with Rachel Perkins winning Best Direction in a TV Drama Series for Redfern Now (Pretty Boy Blue) and Jessica Hobbs taking home the gong for Best Direction in a TV Mini Series for Devil.s Dust (Parts 1 & 2)..

Keeley Hawes, Robert Lindsay and Jessica Raine have joined the cast of BBC Two's Line of Duty.
The trio will appear alongside Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar when the police drama returns for a second series.
The BBC have announced that the series will be comprised of six hour-long episodes focusing on a new police corruption story.
Hawes will appear as new character Di Lindsay Denton, who is the only surviving police officer after a convoy is ambushed.
The actress said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Line of Duty, and after reading Jed's incredible scripts I can't wait to take my character, Di Lindsay Denton, on the epic journey he has created for her.
"I loved the first series, so it's a real pleasure to be part of series two and working alongside such talented actors like Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Robert Lindsay. »

#91. Julia Leigh’s Disquiet
Gist: Like her feature debut – the 2011 Main Competition alum Sleeping Beauty – Julia Leigh is again directing her own screenplay, only this time it’ll be adapted from one of her own novels: 2008’s critically lauded Disquiet. (Her other novel, 1999’s The Hunter, was adapted to the screen in 2011 by Daniel Nettheim and starred Willem Dafoe.) This more recent novel, which has been described as “so spare that it seems as if the characters are deprived of some of their life,” concerns a mother of two young children who leaves her husband and goes to live with her own mother in rural France. Based on the cover of the book (see image above), her mother is ridiculously wealthy and has indulged herself with a massive mansion, so who can blame her?
