Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.

Dunkirk (Christopher Nolan)

In the hours since viewing Dunkirk – the newest film from surprisingly divisive blockbuster director Christopher Nolan – one sensory recollection has stuck out above all others. Every time that British spitfire pilot Farrier (Tom Hardy) accelerates or banks his plane, the soundtrack fills with the noise of metallic rattling, an uncomfortable chorus of knocks and pings that lets you know exactly how much stress and force are

‘Wormwood’ Trailer: Errol Morris Takes Peter Sarsgaard Down a LSD-Laden CIA Rabbit Hole

After the quaint, touching documentary The B-Side from earlier this year, director Errol Morris is back with a more ambitious undertaking: a six-part Netflix series or (depending who you talk to) a film. Clocking in at 241 minutes and described as “a twisting, evolving story of one man’s sixty-year quest to identify the circumstances of his father’s mysterious death, “Peter Sarsgaard leads the project, which combines Morris’ documentary approach with a narrative.

Ahead of a release on Netflix on December 15, the first trailer has arrived, which mixes LSD, the CIA, and mind control along with a number of directorial techniques. Also starring Molly Parker, Christian Camargo, Scott Shepherd, Tim Blake Nelson, Bob Balaban, Jimmi Simpson, and Michael Chernus see the trailer for your new Netflix obsession below.

The Coen Brothers Are Making A Western For Netflix

Disney's decision to pull their movies from Netflix is just the latest move in a continuing trend of legacy media companies shifting their content to home-grown streaming services, in response to dwindling cable and satellite subscribers. Given that Netflix's core business is delivering movies to consumers, this would seem like devastating news, right? Turns out, Netflix hardly blinked!

Perhaps anticipating Disney's actions, Netflix has made a series of their own announcements regarding original content. In the past couple weeks Netflix signed a deal with TV icon David Letterman, purchased comics/film auteur Mark Millar's Millarworld company, and released new trailers for several of their key productions, like Bright, The Defenders, and Stranger Things 2. Netflix, like HBO, Starz, and Showtime, has long-realized that the future of their business is tied to unique and original concepts, rather than relying upon increasingly expensive, short-term licensing deals for existing movies and TV shows.
