Goldberg squashing Brock Lesnar was the perfect end to Survivor Series

22 November 2016 4:06 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Luke Owen defends Goldberg’s win over Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series

On Sunday night, Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar in less than two minutes in the main event of Survivor Series. It was Lesnar’s first clean defeat since losing to Triple H at WrestleMania 29 in 2013. Since then, The Beast Incarnate has defeated the likes of John Cena, Dean Ambrose and – more impressively – The Undertaker where he ended his legendary Undefeated Streak. But it wasn’t an up and comer that could have done with the rub who stopped the unstoppable Brock Lesnar, it was the returning 49-year old Goldberg who hasn’t been in the ring in twelve long years and is only back because a video game needed promoting.

And it was the perfect outcome for the match.

To argue why Goldberg needed to squash Lesnar, you need to go back to his WCW debut in 1997. At that time, »

Triple H shows up at Ufc, WWE “very much” want Conor McGregor…

14 November 2016 8:39 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Wrestling is often talked about in terms of superheroes vs supervillains. Men and women with larger than life physiques and superhuman strength. But, for some reason, wrestlers and comic books don’t generally go together that well.

But that hasn’t stopped WWE putting out their new comic book ‘Then. Now. Forever!’ And it’s…weird.

The strangest scene has a pre-breakup shield enjoying a BBQ on the top of a production truck. Ambrose is cooking, Rollins and Reigns are bantering. But here comes the heel turn. Seth hasn’t brought the potato salad. Which causes the Lunatic Fringe to act, well, like a lunatic.

The guy likes his potato salad.

The less comic book form of fighting Ufc, where competitors try to knock each other out Irl, saw it’s biggest ever show at the weekend with Ufc 205, breaking Madison Square Garden’s ticket gate record. That’s WWE territory. »

WWE Raw stars “very unhappy” & want to move to Smackdown, Shawn Michaels’ WWE backstage role revealed?

11 November 2016 12:19 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

I’m pretty confident in saying Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson haven’t been the tag team division-destroying act we all hoped for from when they were first signed to WWE earlier this year. They debuted strong…and then fizzled out. Then they joined Aj Styles to create The Club…and then they got separated in the brand split. Then they challenged New Day for the tag team titles…and lost a lot and were responsible for one of the worst promo segments of the year with the Old Day skit. Karl Anderson still hasn’t won a singles match in WWE.

So it’s no surprise that WrestlingNewsWorld are reporting that Gallows and Anderson are very unhappy with their positions in the company at the moment and are pushing for a Smackdown move to be reunited with Aj Styles as The Club.

When the draft happened earlier this year, »

Vince McMahon furious with Brock Lesnar WWE Raw promo, what happened backstage…

26 October 2016 8:30 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

For those of you who haven’t seen it – you’re the lucky ones, by the way – here’s a quick summary of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman’s promo on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw: Lesnar and Heyman came out to reply to Goldberg’s impassioned challenge from the previous week. Heyman tried to get the crowd to chant ‘Goldberg’s’ name against Lesnar, but hardly anyone did.

This is because Raw took place in Minnesota. Minnesota is where Brock is from and went to University, for which he won loads of national amateur wrestling contests. He’s a hometown boy and they love him. So instead of chanting ‘Goldberg’, everyone chanted ‘Suplex City’ and ‘Goldberg sucks’ in favour of Brock.

Then, more out of nowhere than a heel Randy Orton Rko, Lesnar’s music started playing and Brock and Heyman awkwardly left the ring. »

WWE 2K17 Review

17 October 2016 10:31 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

When 2k first revealed WWE 2K17 back in May, there were no details confirmed about the game other than the fact that Goldberg would be available as a pre-order bonus. June came and they announced that a man who had only wrestled seven times in 2016 up to that point – Brock Lesnar – would be the cover star but still, there was no information about the actual game.

In July, we got a look at some roster reveals and downloadable content announcements, but yet again, gameplay information was nowhere to be seen. Alarm bells were ringing for sure by this point but finally, midway through August, the publisher decided to actually detail some of the things that fans could expect to see as they stepped into the digital squared circle in 2K’s fifth attempt at creating a must-have wrestling title.

Rumour: John Cena heel turn plans as Nwo-style faction leader

17 October 2016 7:18 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Get your pinches of salt ready!

The brand split hasn’t been the big success that WWE hoped for. Viewership is up for Smackdown, and the show has really benefited creatively from being its own show, but overall, ratings have been on a record low run against the competition of Monday Night Football and the presidential debates.

Just like in 1997, with WCW hammering WWF in the weekly ratings, something big needs to change. Enter a chap called Anthony Dimoro writing as contributor over at Forbes for WWE’s potential solution.

Pinch of salt time!

He’s reporting that his sources say WWE creative has been talking more than ever about a John Cena heel turn, with plans similar to how Hulk Hogan was unveiled as the ‘third man’ in Scott Hall and Kevin Nash’s Nwo faction back in mid-90s WCW. These ideas, however, have apparently been consistently shot »

Conor McGregor Slams Wrestlers!

Our top story today is that WWE want John Morrison back! But first, Ufc fighter Conor McGregor has said some really nasty things about professional wrestlers.

In the conference call ahead of his Nate Diaz rematch at Ufc 202, he was asked about Cm Punk’s chances in the octagon, who’s fighting Mickey Gall at Ufc 203:

“For the most part, those WWE guys are p***ies, to be honest. They’re messed up p***ies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock, he got in and fought, »

Review: WWE Living on a Razor’s Edge – The Scott Hall Story

4 July 2016 7:57 AM, PDT | Shadowlocked | See recent Shadowlocked news »

In an industry that is populated by larger than life characters, and events that are often seen as outrageous or unbelievable, it’s quite the achievement for a wrestler to stand out from the crowd as being head and shoulders above the rest but Scott Hall, better known to WWE fans as Razor Ramon, is such a man. Though his on screen persona has always courted controversy, WWE’s latest release Living on a Razor’s Edge – The Scott Hall Story reveals that his real life has been even more incredible than that of the bad guy that he’s always portrayed in the ring.

As with its recent crop of excellent documentaries, the rise and fall and raise of Scott Hall is told with a shocking degree of candour, from the early years of his life where he shot a man dead in self-defence through his troubled tenure at »

Emma Injured

Our top story today is Tna possibly moving TV network again. But first, WWE have revealed that Emma suffered a back injury at a live event this past weekend and will require surgery.

According to WWE’s ringside physician Dr. Craig Robinson, Emma suffered a ruptured disc in her back on Sunday and after undergoing an Mri, it was determined that she will need surgery.

Currently there’s no estimate on how long she could be out of action, but it really couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Australian superstar, as she had just reformed her team with Dana Brooke on Raw and was »

WWE And Tna: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (April 3)

3 April 2016 3:32 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Here we go, it’s WrestleMania time! It’s that special show we’ve been waiting all year for, and the show that WWE seems to have started booking about two weeks ago. We’ve got 11 matches at the event, with not one of them likely to top half the matches we saw at Nxt: Takeover. Such is life, though. Still, it’s Mania, so we’ll be talking about what happened for years.

Well, the most ridiculous line of the week belongs to the 47-year-old Michael Cole calling the 46-year-old Shane McMahon “A young man.” This means everyone on the roster not named the Undertaker are also strapping, young men.

Since this is WWE’s weekend, and with nothing overly offensive happening in Tna this week, we’ll exclusively focus on the “E” for this edition. Also, to be positive for just one, brief moment, if you haven’t yet, »

15 Future WWE Hall Of Fame Headliners

6 March 2016 1:13 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

The WWE Hall Of Fame began as a tribute to Andre The Giant just weeks after his passing in 1993 and has grown to become a fairly-respected institution recognizing all of professional wrestling’s greatest contributors. A few of those inductees are no doubt, surefire, “first ballot” (if the WWE had a voting process and ballots to go along with it) Hall Of Famers.

Even fewer of those contributors are marquee names that are capable of headlining the ceremony, drawing thousands of ticket sales. After all, the Hall Of Fame is more of a show now than it ever has been before and, like every other event that WWE puts on throughout the year, the final act must be worth the wait.

Superstars like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and The Ultimate Warrior are examples of those prestigious contributors that have become headlining Hall Of Famers, but as the years go by, »
