23 August 2015 12:02 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE held the Nxt Takeover Brooklyn event in the Barclays Center in front of a raucous New York crowd that was energetic all night long. The event started shortly after 7:30pmET with matches taped for next week’s Nxt show and then at 9pmET the live broadcast started on WWE Network.

The show was originally scheduled to run for two hours, but it ran late. The main event started at about 10:58pmET and the broadcast went off the air at 11:22pmET, but that’s the advantage of airing on WWE Network – they can end it when they want. Here are the results from the show.

Triple H did a promo in ring with the lights off and said “We Are Nxt” as the lights came on with the crowd going wild.

10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week

21 August 2015 5:02 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

When World Championship Wrestling closed doors for the final time as a standalone company in 2001, many within the pro wrestling world mourned. It wasn’t only those who had jobs with the organisation that were left dejected, fans also bemoaned the lack of competition to the then-wwf. There were worries about the future of the industry without a main competitor for Vince McMahon.

As it turns out, some performers and talent under contract to WCW weren’t entirely unhappy when the company disappeared. One WCW announcer revealed this week that he was actually relieved, and the answer as to who just may shock some people. That fact is joined by many others in this article, one which aims to deliver 10 wrestling facts that many fans may not have known last week.

10 Most Notorious Kevin Nash Urban Legends

19 August 2015 11:12 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

You’d be hard pressed to come across a more polarising wrestling personality than Kevin Nash. To his supporters, he’s a master politician who worked the system and managed to make millions of dollars for, essentially, partying and having fun with his friends. He’s an extremely important figure in wrestling history, they’ll say, and can have good matches from time to time, too.

His detractors, meanwhile, will argue the opposite. They’ll say that Nash put himself before his co-workers, politicked his way to the top and that he was lazy and useless in the ring. To them, he’s everything wrong with the wrestling business, a five move wonder who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Both arguments have some merit. Yes, Nash was a limited worker who rarely (if ever) had a five-star match. Yes, he played »

WWE 2K16 Roster: 10 WCW Superstars Who Should Be Included

19 August 2015 4:14 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Another batch of Superstars were confirmed for the WWE 2K16 roster this week as Triple H, Booker TColonel MustafaEva MarieGeneral Adnan, Kalisto, Kane, Sin Cara, Summer Rae, Tamina, Emma and Lord Steven Regal were announced as the latest additions to the 120 unique character list.

While most of the reaction was sent the way of Adnan and Mustafa, two of the more controversial Superstars from ‘The Federation Years’, it’s the inclusion of William Regal’s WCW persona Lord Steven that is arguably more of a surprise.

This is because a WCW presence wasn’t expected at all in the new title. 120 Superstars, or so we thought, was just about enough to cover everyone on the current roster, a healthy number of Nxt stars, and a plethora of legends from WWE’s past. Also, a WCW Dlc pack consisting of Bam Bam Bigelow, Diamond Dallas Page, »

10 Things You Didn’t Know About WCW In 1996

13 August 2015 11:40 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

1996 was the year it all turned around for World Championship Wrestling. By the end of ’96, WCW was no longer playing second fiddle to Vince McMahon or the World Wrestling Federation. One brilliant idea would be credited as the turning point, the New World Order.

Signing both Kevin Nash and Scott Hall away from their major competition, WCW made a statement at the Bash At The Beach 1996 Pay-Per-View. One of the biggest babyfaces in pro wrestling history unthinkably turned heel, joining these ‘Outsiders’. There can be no denying that the move was a master stroke, even if the creative team didn’t really seem to know what to do once the nWo idea ran dry years later.

Incredibly, the nWo revolution wasn’t the only big thing happening for WCW in 1996. This article focuses on things even hardcore wrestling fans might not know about the company during that year. »

10 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE In 2011

5 August 2015 5:22 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

2011 was a strange old year for WWE. You could tell things would be a little different from the year’s first PPV, the Royal Rumble, which featured 40 entrants instead of the traditional 30. The Miz was WWE Champion and main evented WrestleMania. That was weird. They you had all that strange Cm Punk worked shoot business…

Yes, things were definitely a little strange in WWE in 2011. As well as being slightly weird, 2011 was also year of the comebacks: Trish Stratus, Booker T, Kevin Nash, Mick Foley and The Rock returned to the company, providing a welcomed bit of nostalgia for longtime fans.

While some major stars returned, one was forced to retire. Edge was ordered by doctors to cease wrestling immediately, following his successful defence of the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. One of the greatest performers of the modern era, Edge’s was a retirement that shocked the world, »

wikipedia / wwe

Hulk Hogan mentions Jamie Foxx in his N-word laden racist rant, is reporting. The site was responsible for breaking the original Hogan racism news alongside The National Enquirer.

They now claim that Hogan name drops Jamie Foxx, after Brooke Hogan’s music producer brought him in to feature on one of her songs.

“F****** n*gger… he had Jamie Foxx coming in on the 22nd track,” Hogan said.

“I didn’t even tell Brooke about it. F*ck her. Brooke and (name withheld) met in Miami.”

“Brooke f*cks up a ten million dollar deal I had with the Saudis. Brooke says, ‘F*ck you dad.’ She’s never said that. She flipped a bird at me.”

The report says that it can’t be confirmed if Hogan was referring to Brooke’s producer or Foxx when saying “f****** n*****.”

The Magic Mike Xxl poster has been given extra clothes in Australia

21 July 2015 2:08 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

For most, the shirtless stars of Magic Mike Xxl are the film's biggest attraction, but that hasn't stopped Australia from apparently censoring the film's poster.

Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Joe Manganiello have been given fairly unconvincing white t-shirts on one advert.

It isn't known how many of the posters have been altered, but it's safe to say some locals have been less than pleased with the change.

One Twitter user wrote: "Saw poster for Magic Mike Xxl today on which the cast had singlets photoshopped onto them. I really don't get the rationale there."

However, it has since been reported that the poster hasn't been fully censored, as they have been printed on special paper in Australia which means the t-shirts disappear at night when the background lighting turns on.

The cast of Magic Mike Xxl recently revealed their fantasy cast additions in an interview with Digital Spy. »

Sequel to raunchy bromance still got the moves

12 July 2015 5:40 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

The follow-up to Magic Mike lacks numerous elements that helped make the original a global hit: director Steven Soderbergh, Matthew McConaughey, the semblance of a plot and a modicum of wit and intelligence.

None of that seems to bother the Australian females and some blokes who are flocking to Magic Mike Xxl.

The raunchy comedy directed by Gregory Jacobs whipped up about $1 million from last Monday night.s arena premiere in Sydney and Wednesday.s Chicks at the Flicks screenings at Event Cinemas.

The film starring Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Amber Heard and Jada Pinkett Smith raked in $4.1 million from Thursday to Sunday, ranked in third place, so the cume is $5.1 million.

That.s a stronger debut than Magic Mike, which took $3.8 million in its first weekend and finished with $12.5 million in 2012.

Movie Review – Magic Mike Xxl (2015)

Magic Mike Xxl, 2015.

Directed by Gregory Jacobs.

Starring Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Adam Rodriguez, Jada Pinkett Smith and Amber Heard.

Three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, he and the remaining Kings of Tampa hit the road to Myrtle Beach to put on one last blow-out performance.

The first Magic Mike blasted onto screens in 2012 to surprise success. What could have been a dull flick about male strippers had surprising depth and was an interesting commentary on the economic crisis. It’s sequel helmed by former Dop Gregory Jacobs doesn’t delve into too much depth with a sequel that is jam-packed with nudity, gags and a lot of lingering looks.

We pick up 3 years after the first film. Mike (Tatum) now owns his own furniture business and is finding himself a bit bored and lonely. »

Now in theaters is Magic Mike Xxl. Gregory Jacobs takes over as director this time around, though Steven Soderbergh is still onboard as cinematographer, camera operator, and editor. Written by Reid Carolin, the story takes place three years after the events of Magic Mike, as Channing Tatum’s character has bowed out of the stripper game for good…or so he thinks. The rest of the Kings of Tampa decide to throw in the towel as well, but not before one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach with Mike sharing the spotlight. As the boys embark on a rowdy road trip, they renew old acquaintances and make new friends. As you can see in these fifty images, Jada Pinkett Smith plays a club owner, while Amber Heard, Donald Glover, Elizabeth Banks, and Andie MacDowell fill other supporting roles. The Secret to Making 'Magic Mike Xxl''s Channing Tatum Strip

By her own admission, Alison Faulk has never had a problem "dancing like a dude." When she took on the assignment of staging the routines in Magic Mike Xxl, however, the 38-year-old choreographer had to dial her inner oversexed guy up to 11. "We wanted those scenes to feel daring and dirty," she says. "We wanted it to be really sexy — the sort of stuff where you you watch the actors do the moves and then ask yourself, 'Um, have we just crossed a line? Is this too much?'"

'Magic Mike Xxl': The woman's dollar and the fantasy business

5 July 2015 1:31 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The reality: In the United States, women make 78 cents for every dollar a man makes. For African-American women, it’s 64 cents. For Latinas, 56 cents. The fantasy in the movie “Magic Mike Xxl,” is that women hold all the dollars, and the dollar really stretches.  Ladies – of all colors, sizes and ages -- rain dollar bills on stripping men in wads, or like falling confetti, like it’s nothing, while men strip without command, without any extra urging from those waving singles.  (In what is one particularly unsexy scene at the Myrtle Beach male stripper convention, women wait in line to get single-dollar bill change for the $20 or $100 dollar bills, in delicious modular stacks.) The reality is that money is power. By proxy, a film whose core demo is women (and gay men) that rakes in a lot of money means that the woman’s dollar has power -- why »

Channing Tatum returns to headline Magic Mike Xxl. It's better than you think...

The gradual reveal of Channing Tatum as a box office magnet and sorely underestimated movie star was staggered over the first half of 2012. The Vow and 21 Jump Street were both hits that showed off opposite sides of his range, but his two collaborations with Steven Soderbergh set him on his current path.

Long renowned as an actor's director, Soderbergh cast Tatum in a minor role in Haywire, which is how he came to be attached to Magic Mike, a semi-biographical project based on the actor's experiences as a stripper in Tampa, Florida. The latter was a sleeper hit that assured Tatum's status as an A-lister, but a sequel hardly felt inevitable.

However, in the same week as Terminator Genisys has shown just how low the bar is for sequels, Magic Mike Xxl turns out to be good »

Second Opinion – Magic Mike Xxl (2015)

Magic Mike Xxl, 2015

Directed by Gregory Jacobs

Starring Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Donald Glover, Elizabeth Banks, Jada Pinkett-Smith

Three years after quitting the stripper life, ‘Magic’ Mike Lane runs into his old stripper buddies from the Xquisite show, who take him along on a road trip to a stripper convention as the last hurrah of the company.

Let me refresh your memory: the first Magic Mike film left us with a bittersweet taste in our mouths (…pun probably intended) as Mike (Channing Tatum) quit the stripper life to pursue more conventional business ventures and a relationship with The Kid (Alex Pettyfer)’s sister, Brooke (Cody Horn). There had been drugs, and bad blood, and some unnamed toxicity that even Mike couldn’t stand anymore, leading to his exit pretty much mid-show. It was a surprise and a total subversion of expectations »
