Rachel Bilson's Zoe Hart will have some company in the form of The CW's newest doctor, Emily Owens (played by Mamie Gummer) when "Emily Owens, M.D." joins "Hart of Dixie" on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. in the fall. The CW announced its official 2012-2013 fall schedule on Thursday, May 17, and "Emily Owens" is one of three new series joining the programming slate in October, with two more on tap for midseason.
"'Emily Owens, M.D.' is funny, emotional, and we have caught lightning in a bottle with an incredible lead actor in Mamie Gummer," says CW president Mark Pedowitz. Gummer previously starred as a doctor on ABC's "Off the Map," so she's got medical cred, plus her mom is Meryl Streep so she's obviously genetically blessed in the acting department too.
