NCIS, Ep. 10.09, “Devil’s Trifecta”: The return of an ex-wife adds flair to a desperate and dull investigation

NCIS, Season 10, Episode 9: “Devil’s Trifecta”

Written by Steven D. Binder

Directed by Arvin Brown

Airs Tuesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS

“We’re working on an IRS fraud case. You sleeping alone is more interesting.”

Truer words were never spoken. Tony can almost be credited for reading viewers’ minds when he comments on the case-of-the-week and McGee’s love life, comparing the routine procedural to the potentially-riveting “sexual escapades” of his co-worker. The return of Gibbs and Fornell’s ex-wife has brought tension to the squad room and rumors to the mill.

The last time anyone saw Diane Sterling (Melinda McGraw), she was professing her undying affection for Gibbs, realizing that she would never be to him what his first wife was, his one true love. Here she returns with a surprise for all: a badge. Now a member of the IRS crime division and an equal to »

NCIS Cast Speaks on Season 10, Characters, Each Other

8 November 2012 8:50 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The eight cast members of NCIS assembled for one giant interview with TV Guide this week.

Perhaps not surprisingly, leading man Mark Harmon had the least to say, leaving the commentary to his more loquacious colleagues (cough, Michael Weatherly). We kid, but the gang did call him out on his silence.

Below are portions from the group sit-down with TV Guide, which sounds like it was a lot of fun. The actors discuss their thoughts on the current season, their respective characters, their favorite episodes and more:

TV Guide: How often are all eight of you in the same room?

David McCallum: Table reads, every 10 days.

Tvg: Have there been any scenes in which you've all been together at once?

McCallum: When Ziva became a U.S. citizen.

Pauley Perrette: Everybody wasn't there. Michael wasn't. But for Jenny's funeral, we were.

McCallum: And that was the last episode of. »

NCIS Round Table: "Lost at Sea"

26 October 2012 9:25 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Our NCIS review broke down "Lost at Sea," Tuesday night's episode of TV's #1 show, in detail.

Now, TV Fanatic staff members Steve Marsi, Matt Richenthal and Eric Hochberger have assembled for our weekly Round Table Q&A discussion of various events from this week's solid installment.

Join in as we analyze Diane Neal's return, Tony and Tim's rapport and much more!

----------------------------------

1. Describe this episode in one word (or two, or three, or four).

Steve: Amusing and intriguing.

Matt: My favorite this fall.

Eric: I heart McTony.

2. Best quotes or scenes from "Lost at Sea"?

Steve: Had to be Tony and Tim asking out Borin. It was made funnier by the fact that she was in on it, but Tim's cringe-worthy delivery in particular (with Tony actually cringing) was hilariously awkward.

Matt: It was early and could be quickly forgotten given everything that transpired after, but I loved »

NCIS Scoop: McGee to Go Undercover With ...

17 October 2012 7:57 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

NCIS fans longing for a McGee-centric episode will soon get their wish, in surprising fashion:

Sean Murray's character will be going undercover with Gibbs and Fornell's ex-wife, Diane!

Executive producer Gary Glasberg confirms that Melinda McGraw will reprise her role as the former Mrs. Gibbs and Mrs. Fornell (and current Mrs. Sterling) in December, and the show-runner had this to say:

“This time she not only has to work undercover with them, she has to spend the night with Special Agent Tim McGee as well. Amidst the chaos, Gibbs and Fornell find their ex asleep on the sofa with Tim."

"In the words of one of my favorite films, ‘Ex Mrs. Boss, are you trying to seduce me?!’ You’ll have to wait and see what McGee has gotten himself into.”

McGraw first appeared in last season's "Devil's Triangle," in which her current spouse became the target of an »

Joe Danger 2: The Movie Hits Psn Next Week, With Extra Content

6 October 2012 10:44 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Hello Games has announced that the Psn version of Joe Danger 2: The Movie will launch in North America when the PlayStation Store updates next week on October 9th for $14.99, and on the following day in Europe for £9.99. The developer also revealed that the “10 hours of extra content” on the PS3 is a new mode called “Joe Danger Gaiden”.

Studio founder Sean Murray explained the origin of the new content, saying:

“It’s actually a throwback to when we made the original Joe Danger. As our guys sat in a room playing our own game, we fell into that classic trap of playing our own game too much. Our first prototype was this very tight, very challenging game that took about 10 hours to complete. No tutorials, no hand-holding, just fun arcade gameplay.”

The Joe Danger Gaiden mode is a reworking of that old prototype into 25 new levels, that include Joe »

Fall TV Preview: NCIS Star Says 'This Is the Year' for Tony/Ziva — Plus: More Explosive Aftermath

25 September 2012 6:46 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

When CBS’ NCIS kicks off Season 10 tonight at 8/7c, from the debris of the Navy yard bombing will rise something many fans have waited for.

But first, a Spoiler Alert, because this preview simply cannot avoid revealing who all survived the explosion – not that the well-reported re-signing of several cast members over the summer left anything up in the air.

“That’s just the nature of the business,” showrunner Gary Glasberg shrugs when asked about Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum each making headlines by inking new deals, effectively affirming their characters’ mortality. “All I can do »

Joe Danger: The Movie Will Be The Last Game In The Series

25 August 2012 9:56 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Sean Murray, the head of British developer Hello Games and creator of the Joe Danger series, has stated that after the upcoming Joe Danger: The Movie, the company is aiming to move away from the series to prevent themselves from stretching it thin.

“I want people to look at the game when it comes out, people that have played it before to just think, ‘That’s how you do a sequel,’” Murray said in a recent interview. “‘Cause the fact is we’re not going to do another Joe Danger after this. I want to go out on a high, you know what I mean? I would hate to just be trying to milk something.”

Murray also made a point of saying that one of the team’s goals regarding the game was to deliver a new experience with each level. While the original title stuck solely to motorbiking, Joe »

Joe Danger: The Movie Will Bring Its Tricks To Xbla “In The Next Month Or So”

20 August 2012 2:43 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s been about a year since Hello Games first unveiled Joe Danger: The Movie during discussions regarding its predecessor’s Xbox Live Arcade port. Back then, release date information obviously wasn’t available and, while it still isn’t now, we’re closer to knowing when the game may appear on Xbla.

While speaking to the British developer’s head honcho, Sean Murray, Joystiq was told that the stuntman’s next digital outing is “pretty much complete”. As a result, the game could end up releasing “in the next month or so”, which makes sense considering that it was the full version of the title that Gamescom attendees got to check out last week.

The final portion of the above paragraph references the following quote, which refers to the positive fan reception that Hello Games’ latest offering received during the convention;

NCIS Season 10 Premiere: First Photo!

17 August 2012 12:37 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

When NCIS returns for its 10th season, the team will have its hands full picking up the pieces, literally and otherwise. The main characters' lives may have been spared, but the impact will be wide-ranging.

How bad will it be? According to myriad psychological issues, the building is in ruins.

This photo from the season premiere, which EW posted earlier, offers our first visual:

Executive producer Gary Glasberg says the opener will be an intense, edge-of-your-seat installment: “It literally picks up two hours after the explosion, and it’s an action-packed episode of television."

"I packed a lot in there,” he adds. “It’s an emotional roller coaster, and it’s all about the manhunt for Harper Dearing (Richard Schiff). It gets really personal between Gibbs and Dearing.”

"Extreme Prejudice" airs Tuesday, September 25.

To clear up any confusion, the entire cast will return for NCIS Season 10, with Michael Weatherly, Perrette »

With all the series regulars back on board after Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray and Pauley Perrette signed two-year contracts, NCIS is now in the process of casting three guest roles for Season 10:

The eccentric Dr. Blackwell, a renowned space geologist who must weigh in on some mysterious material the federal agents bring him. Upper-middle-class Ellie, who blames herself for her father’s death a decade ago and is shocked when new info tells a different story. A 50-ish male to play an aging one-hit wonder from the '70s who blew his earnings in the ’80s and has battled creditors ever since.

NCIS Season 10 – Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray and Pauley Perrette Back in the Fold

13 July 2012 9:12 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Contract negotiations can be a scary thing, especially when they involve some of the most beloved actors of a popular television series. In fact, just 10 days ago, three of NCIS’s longest running actors – Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, and Sean Murray – were still in the middle of coming up with a deal to entice them to return for Season 10 and beyond. These are tricky moments. At any point in time, negotiations can break down and suddenly you’re down a cast member. But NCIS fans can rest easy because the high rated drama has finally locked in the entire cast for next season, so you won’t have to say goodbye to anyone for at least one more season!

'NCIS' Season 10: Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray all returning

The "NCIS" gang is back together for Season 10 after Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray and Michael Weatherly have all agreed to continue with the show.

The three actors, whose contracts were up at the end of last season, have all signed new two-year deals to remain on the CBS hit, Deadline reports. Their signings means the show's cast will remain intact for next season -- and could impact the resolution to May's cliffhanger finale.

When the finale aired -- the episode ended with a bomb going off at the NCIS office -- Weatherly, Murray and Perrette were all unsigned (David McCallum's contract was also up, but he negotiated a new deal in April). The new contracts likely mean that everyone will survive the bombing -- though the aftermath might take a little while to resolve.

Mark Harmon, Cote de Pablo, Rocky Carroll and Brian Dietzen all have deals in place for next season as well. »
