Director: Sam Liu, Lauren Montgomery; Screenwriter: Tab Murphy; Starring: Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku, Jon Polito, Alex Rocco, Katee Sackhoff; Running time: 64 mins; Certificate: PG-13 Ask any long-time Batman fan to rank their favourite stories featuring Gotham's Dark Knight and Frank Miller's Year One is sure to rank near the top every time. For this reason alone, DC and Warner's latest animated feature arrives amid great expectation. It's a faithful adaptation of one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, but it fails to do justice to the source material. A third clip from the animated film Batman: Year One has arrived online. I saw this at Comic-Con and was not initially blown away. It might have been because the screening was a later screening after a long day. The more I watch of these clips, the more I like it. I am still not in love with the film, but it is decent.
Batman: Year One is based on the landmark 1987 DC Comics titles from 12-time Eisner Award winner Frank Miller and illustrator David Mazzucchelli. The film depicts young Bruce Wayne’s return to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed vigilante. The playboy billionaire chooses the guise of a giant bat to combat crime, creates an early bond with a young Lieutenant James Gordon (who is already battling corruption from inside the police department), inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman, »

Warner Bros. has released a second new film clip for their upcoming animated movie Batman: Year One. I was expecting a lot more from this film. I saw it up at Comic-Con and I was mostly disappointed with the voice work, which doesn't make sense because it had a great cast. Just bad direction I guess. The animation on the other was pretty awesome.

Thanks to ComingSoon, we have the first clip from Batman: Year One, a direct-to-dvd/Blu-ray animated movie from Warner Home Video that brings Frank Miller’s graphic novel to life. In the clip, Batman crashes a dinner party – full of Gotham’s most corrupt members – and declares that none of them are safe anymore.
The animated movie stars Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and voiceover newcomer Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Warner Bros. Premier has released the first film clip from the upcoming animated film adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. I saw the movie over at San Diego Comic-Con this year and was actually pretty disappointed. The animation was decent but the voice acting and direction sucked, which is a shame because it has such a great cast of actors such as Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica). Everything is very monotone, you will get a taste of it in the film clip below. Check it out and tell us what you think!

Warner Home Video has released the full Blu-ray and DVD specs for their upcoming animated film Batman: Year One, which is set to come out on October 18th. This movie actually looks like it's going to be pretty awesome. I'm excited for it, and I don't really get excited about DC Entertainment animated films. Marvel stopped making their animated movies, so DC is all we got right now.

Had history taken a different turn, Darren Aronofsky would have made Batman: Year One instead of Christopher Nolan making Batman Begins. Finally, though, the project had been made…
Batman: Year One was threatening to be a permanent member of the pile of lost superhero movies. Developed for a while by Darren Aronofsky, before Warner Bros gave the guardianship of Gotham City to Christopher Nolan, the movie of Year One seemed lost forever.
That was until it was announced that it was getting the animated treatment, under the watchful eye of Bruce Timm, serving as executive producer. Then there's Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery directing, and Tab Murphy on screenplay duties.
Batman: Year One will be arriving on DVD this autumn, and is set to get its premiere at the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego. And the first trailer for it has appeared at MTV. You can see it right here. »

Around ten years ago, long before Christopher Nolan got the idea to reboot the Batman franchise with an origins story, indie filmmaker Darren Aronofsky pitched an adaptation of Frank Miller’s groundbreaking and seminal Dark Knight story Batman: Year One to Warner Bros.
The script from Miller/Aronofsky is readily available online and having read it, was a pretty out there adaptation, a lot more violent, gritty, dark and less mainstream than the eventual Nolan franchise but it was a significant moment in the history of the character on film as it paved the way in the mindset of the studio that the character could be rebooted after the disastrous Joel Schmuacher run.
Ten years later and the Batman franchise is the hottest ticket in town. With The Dark Knight Rises currently deep into production, the character is once again at the top of pop culture.
So of course it »

Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation have announced that Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku, Bryan Cranston, Katee Sackhoff and Alex Rocco have been added to the voice cast of their forthcoming adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book classic, Batman: Year One.
THR reports that McKenzie is portraying the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Dushku is lending her voice to Catwoman, Cranston is playing Gordon, Sackhoff is voicing Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest, and Rocco is portraying Gotham’s Mafia chief Carmine Falcone.
Tab Murphy penned the script, based on Miller’s comic and Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are directing the film and producer Bruce Timm recently spoke with MTV about how closely the film will adhere to the Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli comic:
“It is the comic — literally 95% of the dialogue is pulled straight out of the comic. The visual style is definitely based »

The voice cast has been revealed for the animated version of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, which premieres in July at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Heat Vision reports that Ben McKenzie (The O.C.) will provide the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston portraying Lt. James Gordon. Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) is voicing Detective Sarah Essen, and Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse) will voice Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Alex Rocco (Moe Greene from The Godfather) will be the voice of Carmine Falcone.
Tab Murphy (Superman/Batman:Apocalypse) adapted the script, and Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) are directing. Miller’s original novel lends itself nicely to a film adaptation, and large hunks of the story were used in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. Executive producer Bruce Timm points out:
“The source material is surprisingly cinematic; it’s a pretty straight forward literal retelling. »

An animated movie of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One will be arriving on DVD before the end of the year. And the voice cast has now been announced, too…
If you cast your minds back to the pre-Christopher Nolan era of Batman, then you might recall that Darren Aronofsky was once heavily linked with rebooting the Batman franchise. He worked on developing the story of Batman: Year One for the big screen, before Warner Bros eventually went with Nolan and pressed on with Batman Begins.
But it can't just be us that held out a little bit of hope that Aronofsky might have been tempted to look again at Year One once Nolan has completed his Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises.
But that's clearly not going to happen. The reason? Well, aside from Aronofsky being unlikely to get the call from Warner Bros, the Batman: Year One »
