- Was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 2nd overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft.

- (December 23) Released from a New York hospital where he received a kidney donated by his cousin. Mourning underwent the transplant on December 19. (2003)
- On December 17th, 2004, Mourning was traded by the New Jersey Nets along with with Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and a pair of first-round draft picks to the Toronto Raptors for Vince Carter. However, Morning did not want to play in Toronto and never reported to the team. The Raptors eventually waived Mourning on February 11th, 2005 deeming him unfit to play for the team.

- Forced to retire from the NBA due to a life-threatening kidney condition. Currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. (December 2003)
