Halloween 2017: Devil’s Night Double Feature – The Crow and House Of 1000 Corpses

  • DailyDead
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Check here for more double feature recommendations and other Halloween 2017 coverage.]

In horror movies, things usually go so very wrong on October 31st when it comes to the Halloween-themed offerings of the genre. But what about the night before? October 30th, or “Devil’s Night”, can also bring about its own horrific consequences, which is the theme I went with when it came time to put together my double feature of Alex ProyasThe Crow and Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses. Both are coincidentally feature film debuts for each director, they feature killer soundtracks, and this pair of films is also centered around a storyline where the characters will never be the same after their experiences on the night before Halloween.

Based on the comic by James O'Barr, The Crow finds aspiring rock star Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) rising from the grave a year after his death to take revenge on the four thugs (David Patrick Kelly, Angel David,

Rob Zombie developing The Devil’s Rejects follow-up

According to Bloody Disgusting, Rob Zombie is getting back behind the camera for a “direct follow-up” to his 2005 film The Devil’s Rejects, which was itself a spinoff from his 2003 debut House of 1000 Corpses.

The site reports that details on the new project are sketchy, especially considering that the main characters Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis Driftwood (Bill Moseley), and Vera-Ellen ‘Baby’ Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie) were all killed at the climactic shootout of The Devil’s Rejects. Therefore it’s possible that the new film will be a prequel, or a spinoff.

Zombie’s most recent film 31 was released in 2016 and followed five carnival workers who are forced to participate in a violent game where they have to survive against a gang of sadistic clowns.

Rob Zombie Is Bringing ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ Back From the Dead, Possibly as a Prequel

  • Indiewire
Rob Zombie Is Bringing ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ Back From the Dead, Possibly as a Prequel
The Devil’s Rejects aren’t exactly living up to their name, as Rob Zombie plans to continue their story. Bloody Disgusting has confirmed that the horror-inclined filmmaker will make a trilogy of the saga that began with “House of 1000 Corpses,” Zombie’s directorial debut; how he plans to do that remains a mystery, as (spoiler alert) “The Devil’s Rejects” ended with the eponymous clan of killers dead.

Bd notes that, “while we don’t know any of the story details, we’re expecting it to be another spinoff or possibly a prequel, being that the Firefly family is presumed dead.” In the 12 years since “Rejects” was released, Zombie has directed two “Halloween” movies, “The Lords of Salem,” and last year’s “31.”

Rob Zombie is Developing a Sequel To The Devil's Rejects

Since Rob Zombie only likes to make one kind of film, he is currently developing a sequel to his 2005 film The Devil's Rejects. I will say the first movie is probably his best film, but I think he's capable of so much more as a director. He just needs to do something different than what he's always done.

What's interesting about this news is that the first film ended in a shootout that killed all of the main characters that include Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie). According to Bloody-Disgusting, he plans to resurrect these characters.

The Devil's Rejects is a spinoff of Zombies very first film, House of 1,000 Corpses. According to the report, "this is important because of the aforementioned scene. While we don’t know any of the story details, we’re expecting it to be another spinoff or possibly a prequel,

Devil's Rejects 2 Is Rob Zombie's Next Movie?

Devil's Rejects 2 Is Rob Zombie's Next Movie?
After more than a decade, Rob Zombie is returning to the franchise that turned him into a modern voice in horror. It's been revealed that Zombie is going to make The Devil's Rejects 2 as his next directorial project. Not many details are known at the present time, but it looks like he's finally going to round out his trilogy, which started with House Of 1000 Corpses and continued with The Devil's Rejects in 2005.

In case you aren't familiar, The Devil's Rejects (arguably Rob Zombie's best movie), serves as both a spin-off and sequel to House of 1000 Corpses and takes the series in a totally different direction. The movie features the Firefly family, with Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) escaping a raid on their famous murder house and heading to a remote desert motel. They meet up with Baby's father, Capt. Spaulding (Sid Haig), with the

First wave of films for ‘Monster Fest 2017′ announced!

Australia’s premier genre film festival, Monster Fest returns for its seventh year this November 23rd to 26th at Melbourne’s Lido Cinemas with a mix of World, Australian & Victorian Premieres! The 2017 chapter of Monster Fest, takes on a very Australian flavour – the first wave announcement includes not one, but Six(!) brand new Australian feature films, most of which will be enjoying their World Premieres at the festival.

Opening the festival is one of 2018’s most anticipated new horror flicks, Christopher Sun’s creature-feature, Boar. Now we’re huge fans of Sun here at Nerdly, especially his films Daddy’s Little Girl (a film that should have got the plaudits the more recent Hounds of Love received) and Charlie’s Farm. Sun is not the only filmmaker returning with a new film at this years Monster Fest, joining him are Daniel Armstrong (Murderdrome) with his film Tarnation; and Nerdly favourites

The killer clown party continues throughout the weekend, with It arriving as one of the biggest horror movies of all time. Crepitus is coming next, and Bill Moseley proves that Pennywise has nothing on this painted freak. It's a delicious bit of cotton candy colored ice cream that will melt down your hand quicker than you can yell, 'Help! I'm being eaten by a clown!'

Haynze Whitmore directs Bill Moseley as Crepitus. The movie is coming from indie studio Ginger Knight Entertainment, and it is in the final stages of post-production.
