In 2000 Mortenson directed and produced the indie feature 'North Beach' along with fellow USC alum Richard Speight, Jr. He then worked on various projects in the San Francisco Bay Area for corporate clients such as Silicon Graphics, Hyatt Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, Boston Scientific, and Shutterfly to name a few.
