"The Walking Dead" has killed off dozens of characters over the years, but when it was time for Scott Wilson's send-off last season, many fans expressed outrage over his character's death. What was it about the killing of Hershel Greene by the Governor (David Morrissey) that struck such an emotional cord with the audience? That's just one of the questions we will ask Wilson when he joins us for a live webchat this Thursday (June 12) at 12:00 p.m. Pt / 3:00 p.m. Et on Gold Derby's home page. -Break- Emmy voters should embrace 'The Walking Dead' Did Wilson feel that Hershel's death by decapitation was too violent and maybe a step over the line, or is there truly no line for "The Walking Dead" when it comes to what can be shown on television? How far in advance did Wilson know that his character would be killed off, »
By 2009, the new version of Doctor Who had become not only an integral part of Saturday night television and a huge Christmas ratings winner but also an international success all over again. David Tennant, who had played the Time Lord since 2005 and was, arguably, more popular than any Doctor since the mighty Tom Baker hung up his scarf in 1981, had announced his resignation from the part he loved in October 2008. Many wondered how the incoming showrunner, Steven Moffat, would follow Tennant and what kind of show would emerge.
Tennant spent much of 2009 on stage in Hamlet and was only able to devote small amounts of time to Doctor Who. Occasional specials »
Showrunners will always say that it doesn’t matter where talent comes from, as long as an actor is right for the part. But for more than a decade now, the actors that fit well into primetime series are coming from outside the United States in increasing numbers.
Some credit the Internet with giving casting directors a larger talent pool at their disposal. Others say Europeans are inundated with American culture from a young age, giving them the ability to mimic accents and social quirks. And nearly everyone agrees that Europe and Australia have stronger theater traditions that simply train actors more effectively.
“Britain has a huge tradition of acting. It’s incredibly respected there, so very well-trained actors quite often come out of there,” says Michelle Ashford, executive producer of Showtime’s “Masters of Sex.” “And because so much serious material now is coming from television, I don’t »

AMC’s “Dispatches From the Set” Q&A series continues with Denise Huth. A co-executive producer on The Walking Dead, Denise Huth talks about scouting locations for Season 5, being The Governor’s wife, and Easter eggs from Season 4:
via AMC- “Q: How is the location scouting going? Can you tell us about any new locations for this season?
A: We’re out of the prison and we’re on the road; and we will see a little more of Terminus. The [survivors] don’t have a space to get back to, like the prison, so this year will be really brand new, which is exciting.
Q: We saw a photo of you as The Governor’s wife during Seasons 3 and 4. Did anyone actually recognize you?
A: I do meet people who love the show and slide in the fact that I’m the Governor’s dead wife. They always want »

We’re not even close to The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere in October, but filming begins this month and we’ll have plenty of details trickling in over the coming months. Today, it has been revealed that another actor from The Wire has joined the Season 5 cast as a series regular.
According to Deadline, Seth Gilliam (pictured below) has officially joined the cast. Unfortunately, due to the way casting is handled, we don’t know much about who he’ll be playing. Like a number of other actors hired for roles on the show, they are being given fake names and potentially fake character descriptions. In this case, the character is named Michael Todd and is described as “having two sides, displaying a friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret.”
As previously reported, three actors from Season 4 have been promoted to series regular status, »

Last season, The Walking Dead set ratings records for AMC. Will the show's audience continue to grow in season four or will the numbers start to decline? How long can this zombie apocalypse series run? Stay tuned to find out.
In this season of The Walking Dead, Rick may not be a leader any longer but that's certainly not the end of his problems. The large cast includes Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Scott Wilson, David Morrissey, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Larry Gilliard, Jr.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically on Tuesdays.

After the way Season 4 finale ended, it’s going to be difficult for fans to hold out until the show resumes in October. Filming of the new season hasn’t started yet, so we won’t get our first good look at The Walking Dead Season 5 until July, but AMC released a new poster and video that teases what’s ahead. It has also been revealed that three actors from Season 4 are being promoted to series regulars.
We met Andrew J. West as Gareth, the leader of Terminus, in the Season 4 finale and he’s one of three actors that are getting the new “series regular” status, according to THR. The other two are Alanna Masterson (Tara) and Christian Serratos (Rosita). This means that they will likely be more prominently featured in The Walking Dead Season 5, but it does not mean that they cannot be killed. For example, David Morrissey »

Feature Duncan Bowles 1 Apr 2014 - 07:00
With its finale behind us, Duncan talks us through why season 4 of The Walking Dead was the most shocking yet...
This feature was written before the finale aired but contains season four spoilers.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – while so much media attention was ladled upon the mighty Game Of Thrones for its sensationally shocking Red Wedding, The Walking Dead has been quietly and brutally taking levels of gore and central character deaths to dizzying new heights. While it’s safe to say that every season of Twd so far has had its own jaw dropping moments (the death of Sarah Wayne Callies’ Lori is still a standout), season four has been an absolute emotional whirlwind, taking things further than perhaps any of us were expecting.
If there are criticisms aimed at The Walking Dead it always seems to be regarding the pace, »
Warning: While The Photos Above Are Incredible, They're Also Kind Of Spoilery For Anyone Who Hasn't Seen The Finale. What a bloody good time! While last night's season finale of "The Walking Dead" was a bleak hour of television, it sure looks like the cast and crew had a much better time filming it.AMC just released a ton of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the zombie series, and even when they're covered in guts, gore and grime, the stars of the show are having a blast! From selfies to incredibly candid moments with stars like Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln, the photos definitely show us a totally different side to the sometimes incredibly heavy show. There are also a bunch of excellent shots from earlier in the season as well, showing The Governor (David Morrissey) and Hershel (Scott Wilson) hanging out before and after they met their on-screen deaths. »
