23 September 2011 5:47 PM, PDT | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

.Moneyball. is a fantastic film about the Oakland A.s general manager Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt. But it.s not just about baseball, it.s a revolution, much like Sony.s .The Social Network. last year. The studio is releasing .Moneyball. this fall, and yes, it.s an Oscar-bait. And deservingly so.

In the film, Chris Pratt plays Scott Hatteberg and he hits a homerun! I enjoyed talking to the actor who is also appearing on NBC.s Parks and Recreation. In this interview, we talked about:

*** His attraction to working on the film

*** His character

*** Working with a great cast

*** Baseball!

Have Fun!

Here's more info on "Moneyball" from Yahoo:

Billy Beane was once a would-be baseball superstar who, stung by the failure to live up to expectations on the field, turned his fiercely competitive nature to management. Heading into the 2002 season, Billy faces a dismal situation: »

At this year's Toronto Film Festival, I was able to talk with Chris Pratt about director Bennett Miller’s Moneyball.  Based on Michael Lewis' book, the film stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of Oakland Athletics who helped usher in a statistical revolution to professional baseball.  Jonah Hill plays a fictional character based on Paul DePodesta, and Pratt plays Scott Hatteberg.  Moneyball also stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Stephen Bishop and Kathryn Morris. During the interview, Pratt talked about how he got cast in the film, what advice he got from Hatteberg, the screenplay by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin, and what the last year has been like.  He also talks about his characters in both Ten Year and Five-Year Engagement with Jason Segel.  Hit the jump to watch. Jonah Hill Talks Moneyball and Neighborhood Watch

19 September 2011 4:21 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

At this year's Toronto Film Festival, I was able to talk with Jonah Hill about director Bennett Miller’s Moneyball.  Based on the non-fiction book by Michael Lewis, the film stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of Oakland Athletics who helped usher in a statistical revolution to professional baseball, with Hill playing a fictional character based on Paul DePodesta.  The fantastic cast also includes Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Stephen Bishop, Kathryn Morris, and Chris Pratt as Scott Hatteberg. During the interview, Hill talked about working with Pitt, what kind of research he did to prepare for the film, if acting in Moneyball was different than acting in comedies, what the last year has been like as he's appeared in a number of high profile projects, Neighborhood Watch (which also stars Ben Still and Vince Vaughn), and his intention to do another drama next year.  Hit the jump to watch. »

Exclusive: Lifetime has put in development Princess of Whales, a drama project from 24 and The Kennedys writer-producer Stephen Kronish and Cold Case star-turned-producer Kathryn Morris. The project is based on the true story of Marcia Hartman and follows the exploits of one of Las Vegas’ most successful casino hostesses, whose job is to bring in the super-high rollers and make them spend as much as possible. But her lavish lifestyle and life-of-the-party personality reveal a dark side that threatens to destroy her. Morris and her development executive at Revival House Josh Gold saw an article about Hartman, tracked her down and secured the rights to her story. “She is the most fascinating, complex female character we had seen,” said Morris, who has no plans to act on the potential series. She took the idea to seasoned showrunner Kronish, who came on board to help develop the project and to write the script. »

Tiff 2011 First Look: 'Moneyball' Starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill

Brad Pitt in Moneyball Moneyball, adapted from "The Blind Side" author Michael Lewis' nonfiction book of the same name, has had a long road to the big screen as Steven Soderbergh was originally pegged to direct, but things broke down only three days before he was to begin shooting.

The film once carried a price tag of approximately $60 million and it's now reportedly down to $47 million as Bennett Miller (Capote) has stepped in and taken on directorial duties, working with a script adapted by Steve Zaillian followed by a polish from Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network).

Moneyball is based on a true story, and stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A's and the guy who assembles the team, who has an epiphany: all of baseball's conventional wisdom is wrong. Forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs. »

Moneyball Poster

24 July 2011 12:50 AM, PDT | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

Check out the movie poster for Bennett Miller’s “Moneyball,” based on the best-selling book with a screenplay by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin and starring Brad Pitt and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

In Moneyball, out Sept. 23, general manager Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt, attempts to pull the cash-strapped Oakland A’s out of mediocrity with a contrarian new philosophy on scoring talent. Clearly, that alone won’t draw in folks who don’t yet know what whip stands for, so Aaron Sorkin’s script delves deeper into Beane’s homelife and his relationship with his awkward baseball-geek assistant, the blandly-named Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) instead of the real-life Paul DePodesta.

Additional cast include Robin Wright Penn, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kathryn Morris, Rick Yudt and Stephen Bishop.

First Poster for Brad Pitt’s Moneyball

21 July 2011 10:13 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Gotta say, I wasn’t expecting the trailer for Bennett Miller’s “Moneyball”, starring Brad Pitt and the fat kid from “Superbad” to be nearly as interesting as it was. (You can see it for yourself here if you missed it.) It’s sold me that this could be a reasonably entertaining film, even though watching baseball games, unless it’s your team or you have money on it, can sometimes be like watching paint dry, only with more beer involved. Anyways, here’s the first poster for the movie. It’s appropriately green, I’d say, given the topic and theme. The story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Chris Pratt, Kathryn Morris, Tammy Blanchard, and Glenn Morshower. »
