Mono No Aware continues its hardcore commitment to keeping the practice of expanded cinema alive with their 8th annual edition that will run on December 5-6 in Brooklyn, NY at LightSpace Studios.
This is two nights of creative, live cinematic performances utilizing only analog equipment and materials that will never be repeated again in the universe.
Some of the performances include returning champion Joel Schlemowitz, who will be creating a 3-D experience using overhead projectors; and the wonderful Winnipeg underground film scene is represented by Scott Fitzpatrick, who will be turning the book Victorian Frames, Borders and Cuts into a 16mm triple projection.
For all of Mono No Aware’s amazing performances, they are so unique that we are listing them copied and pasted directly from the festival’s website below. But, for even more information, such as screening venues, please visit their official website.

Sophie Madden
The Media Federation of Australia has appointed its first chief executive.
Sophie Madden, head of marketing services at Kraft Foods, moves into the role to replace Carol Morris, who stepped down as executive director of the media industry body after a decade in the role in September.
Madden starts in February, and will move from Melbourne to Sydney.
Mfa president Henry Tajer, the boss of Mediabrands, said: “Given our industry’s fast-paced changes and evolution into a communications industry – offering numerous dynamic services such as content, mobile, search, events and more – there is a huge need to showcase the benefits and value of media agencies to clients, including the investment in capabilities the agencies have been making and continue to make.”
“In this environment, and as the Mfa strives to grow, it was appropriate to upgrade the leadership role at the Mfa to a Chief Executive with a broader remit.
