Estranged from Orson Welles for decades, the couple were never divorced. Oja Kodar became Welles' longtime companion both personally and professionally from 1966 on. A year after Orson's death, Paola and Oja finally agreed on the settling of his will. On the way to their meeting to sign the papers, however, Paola was killed in a car accident.
