Larry King is an iconic figure in the world of television interviewing. To take over from him is a huge honour. There is a natural reluctance to give it to a foreigner but I'd established myself on "America's Got Talent" (2006) and Celebrity Apprentice so I'm not an unknown quantity. I hope they'll see it's a fresh and new style for US TV. I'll be a bit cheekier than they're used to but not in a way that will alienate guests. I was quite mischievous with Condoleezza Rice and she loved it so much she booked herself to appear again on the show. You can have a bit of fun with US celebrities because of the British accent, which they find charming.
There is a certain advantage to the British accent. I do notice that Americans love it; they think the we Brits are smarter than perhaps we are. So I'm relying on that, definitely.
