A spin-off from the popular The Vampire Diaries, which is based on the best-selling book series, The Originals is about what the name suggests: The original vampire family. They return to New Orleans, a city they help build, and the mayhem begins.

Created by Julie Plec (TV’s The Tomorrow People), The Originals stars Joseph Morgan (Armistice), Daniel Gillies (TV’s Saving Grace) and Phoebe Tonkin (Bait) from The Vampire Diaries. Charles Michael Davis (TV’s Grey’s Anatomy) and Leah Pipes (TV’s The Deep End) were in one episode of the earlier show but their roles have built into starring characters in The Originals.

Averaging nearly 3.1 million viewers, the fantasy TV show is the CW’s number 2 series among adults. »

Yesterday we learned Wbtv is expanding its 2014 Sd Comic-Con events to include Saturday night, and now we have their full schedule, which includes the "iZombie" and "Constantine" pilots plus returning favorites like "Tvd," "The Originals," "Supernatural," and "The Following."

We told you that they’d be screening the pilot episode of Gotham, but it has just been announced that they’re also screening the pilots for Constantine and iZOMBIE. From 'Arrow' to 'Vampire Diaries': Warner Bros. TV announces Comic-Con lineup

The bros are getting the whole gang together for Comic-Con. And by the whole gang, we mean everyone from Kevin Bacon, to the guys from Supernatural, to Mike Tyson.

In a press release, Warner Bros. Television group announced plans to pull together 15 different series, including five shows making their debut at the San Diego convention. They’ve previously announced a three-hour event on July 26 which will include the premiere of the anticipated Batman-prequel Gotham and footage from the upcoming pilot for The Flash, but they’re also promising the return of several of their biggest shows.

The Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, was one of last year's successful TV newbies. It wasn't without teething problems (if you'll excuse the pun) but by the time its finale came around, it knew exactly what it was and exactly what to do to keep audiences coming back.

Season two is its reward, and that season is welcoming new blood. In addition to the arrival of Teen Wolf's Daniel Sharman as charming, devilish witch Kaleb, to its roster of new talent comes The Wire's Sonja Sohn as a recurring character.
