When he died in 1958, the honorary pallbearers were The Amos 'n Andy Show (1951) creators Freeman F. Gosden and Charles J. Correll. He was carried to his final resting place by Spencer Williams, Alvin Childress, Johnny Lee and F.E. Miller.
