I’ve learned that CBS has passed on high-profile drama pilot The Advocates. The project, written by The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller and directed by David Nutter, starred Mandy Moore and Ben McKenzie as a female lawyer and a male ex-con who team up as “victim advocates,” going to the very edge of the law to right wrongs and fight for the underdog. I hear Warner Bros. TV, which produces the project, will shop it elsewhere. Also being shopped at the moment is another CBS drama pilot that didn’t make the cut, Beverly Hills Cop. So far CBS has picked up two new drama series, Hostages, also from Warner Bros., and Intelligence, from ABC Studios/CBS TV Studios. »

Who do those ankles belong to? How I Met Your Mother is heading into its season finale next week and a promo released Thursday hints at a possible big reveal. Even if the promo is just a big tease, we think it’s high time to get down to business and take some guesses about who will play the mother of Ted’s children. Everyone has their opinions about when and how she’ll show up, but we can all agree that since Himym has cast nearly every hot actress under 35 on the show at some point in its eight years, »

I like Zach Braff. After a very successful theater career in Chicago I moved to L.A. in 2004 to take it to the next level. I took the first job in show business I could find, which ended only being an usher at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood. Zach and Mandy Moore (his girlfriend at the time) would come to check out a movie, make eye contact, cracked jokes with the staff and came across as genuinely good people. Everyone at the Arclight loved "Garden State," and Zach had all the »

Well, that was a finale. Tonight's Season 5 closer of "Southland" left most of our favorite characters' fates up in the air, which is particularly anxiety-inducing given the fact that the show has yet to be picked up by TNT for a Season 6.
The good news? Lydia and Russell started to acknowledge the developments in their relationship, with him asking "What are we doing here?" when she skipped the glory of a press conference to spend time with him and her son.
The bad news? Pretty much everything else. Ben's spiral into corruption came to a painful climax as Sammy got to the bottom of all of Ben's less-than-respectable behavior this season. It seems that Ben has officially been branded a "dirty cop" -- and it's very hard to come back from that, particularly given Sammy's disgust with him.
Cooper's story was certainly the most compelling. He's been bottling a lot of rage this season, »

Can you believe Mandy Moore turns 29 years old today?!The adorable pop star won the world and our hearts with her 1999 debut single "Candy." Moore dominated MTV in the early '00s alongside fellow pop princesses Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera -- but she's always maintained her good-girl charm. In 2002, Mandy was the envy of women everywhere when she landed her first starring role in "A Walk To Remember," playing the love interest of fellow '00s heartthrob, Shane West. After that, the brunette beauty starred in a slew of romantic comedies like "Chasing Liberty," "The Princess Diaries" and "Because I Said So." Today Mandy continues to act and sing, recently appearing on shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Tron: Uprising" and voicing a Disney princess in "Tangled." In 2009, Moore tied the knot with fellow singer/actor Ryan Adams. Click "Launch Gallery" above to see more "Trl" stars then & now! Read »

Broadcast and cable networks — as well as new TV player Amazon — are all participating in the current pilot season, which means that more than 100 new shows are scouting A-list actors and directors simultaneously. As a result, 20th Century Fox TV chairman Dana Walden says that it's been "an unusually difficult pilot season for everybody." The talent run means that shows like Bravo's The Joneses, USA's Horizon, and NBC's Donor Party had to be shelved because they couldn't attract suitable actors. And some ended up in a lurch even after successfully recruiting a big name: While ABC's Pulling signed up Mandy Moore and NBC's Girlfriend in a Coma snagged Christina Ricci, both actresses ended up walking away from the projects, possibly because a desperate scramble for stars produced some bad matches. Meanwhile, several cable and digital shows were pleasantly surprised by their ability to lock in attractions such as »

Happy 66th birthday to the phenomenally talented, mythically successful, and almighty-gay-and-powerful Elton John! If his one-of-a-kind, larger-than-life personality isn't enough to garner your eternal respect, surely his killer catalog of songs does the trick. Frankly, he has to be awesome, otherwise this website probably would've been given a different name like "AfterPetShopBoys," "AfterWham!," or -- still my favorite -- "BeforeLautner." (Kidding.)
On this blessed day, I ask you: What's Elton John's most underrated moment? I've picked out three songs I rarely hear anyone discuss, and I truly believe each is a highpoint in his extremely varied career.
"Are You Ready For Love"
The first is an effervescent pop jam whose original version is over seven minutes long, but this clipped-down version clocks in under four. It's 1979's "Are You Ready For Love," which I consider the perfect rollicking summer anthem. Connoisseurs of the Bravo Network's earlier, less-Housewifey days may »

Actress Mandy Moore pushed away from the ABC pilot Pulling, just to pull for the CBS pilot The Advocates. Sounds exhausting! But we know many of you out there are pulling for her to appear in any really good pilot in hopes of seeing her as a series regular very soon.
The news was right here when Moore won a leading role in ABC’s Pulling, a single-camera comedy pilot, based on a 2006 show of the same name from Britain, which will follow three “dysfunctional” women in their 30s. Moore wasn’t going to play the star, but she had signed on to play one of the three leads. Her character, Louise, was desperate to find herself a husband. As Louise developed, however, she started going in a different direction, one where Moore wasn’t the best qualified to take her, so to speak.
We followed up, informing fans that »
