Montgomery's SAG and other union activities caused a rift between the actor and studio boss Louis B. Mayer. However, through Montgomery's efforts the criminal activities of Willie Bioff of the Theatrical Stage Employees on behalf of the Capone syndicate were exposed. Bioff and two other unionists ultimately served prison time. See more »
