Rihanna Wanted James Franco for ‘We Found Love’

25 April 2012 5:15 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

James Franco has been a pop-singing tear as of late, but the recent video of him warbling along to Rihanna's "You Da One" isn't the closest he's come to making a viral clip involving the pop star. According to MTV, Franco was close to starring alongside Rihanna in her "We Found Love" music video. "She actually asked me to be in that video, the one with the relationship that gets crazy," said Franco, who also teased that Rihanna may star with him in Seth Rogen's coming directorial debut, The End of the World. "I couldn't do it. But I hope that that means there's mutual love between us." To be fair, Franco is vague enough in MTV's video clip that he may have meant Rihanna actually pursued him for the "Love the Way You Lie" video (which put Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan in a "crazy relationship"), but let's »

Celebrities Storm The Avengers Red Carpet, The Men Win This Round

12 April 2012 3:34 AM, PDT | TheFabLife - Movies | See recent TheFabLife - Movies news »

Remember how Scarlett Johansson told Flare magazine that she was the “only girl in the film,” and that she is “obviously going to be more aware that I’m surrounded by a bunch of suits. Everybody is going to be wearing black and grey and it will be nice to add femininity and some female sex appeal to the lineup. I think I’ll steer clear of the tuxedo”? She was talking, of course, about her film The Avengers, which premiered last night in L.A. And no matter how much “female sex appeal” she brought, the men were the clear winners of this round.

Scarlett herself wore a little black dress by Versace which we’re still trying to love, but all eyes were on the dudes. Robert Downey Jr. was flamboyant in an eggplant suit while Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner were all sharp in different shades of gray. »

WWE star Hornswoggle set for the Leprechaun reboot

5 April 2012 12:47 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The latest name to follow in the footsteps of professional wrestling icons such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Dwayne Johnson and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin by making the leap from the squared circle to the cinema screen is current WWE star Hornswoggle (a.k.a. Dylan Postl), with the mischievous grappler set to step into the shoes of Warwick Davis (Life's Too Short) for the lead in a reboot of the Leprechaun comedy-horror franchise, entitled Leprechaun: Origins.

Originally released in 1993, Leprechaun saw a pre-Friends Jennifer Aniston being stalked by Davis' malevolent mini-monster during his search for a stolen pot of gold. Despite being panned by critics, the low-budget film was a commercial success and went on to spawn five sequels of diminishing quality, including the likes of Leprechaun 4: In Space, Leprechaun: In the Hood and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood. Last month, it was revealed »

Take The Millionaire Tour with Dominic Monaghan and Rick Gomez

3 April 2012 8:06 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Band of Brothers” alum alert! The new thriller “The Millionaire Tour” co-stars Rick Gomez, George Luz himself from HBO’s “Band of Brothers”. Besides doing work in Inon Shampanier’s “The Millionaire Tour”, Gomez also recurs on the awesome “Justified” as Assistant U.S. Attorney David Vasquez, where this year has him co-starring with fellow “BoB” alum Neal McDonough, though the two have no scenes together … yet. Now if only they could toss Dick Winters in there… Anyways, Gomez is co-starring in Inon Shampanier’s “The Millionaire Tour”, which also co-stars Dominic Monaghan of “Lost” fame. A mysterious cab passenger, who is taken hostage, must convince the abductors that he is not the legendary conman they set out to kill. His various attempts to prove his identity only persuade the abductors of his devious conman trickery. Is it a case of mistaken identity, or a clever act of deception? A series of mind games, »

IFC Pops ‘Cherry’; Cinedigm Buys ‘Citadel’; WWE Studios and Anchor Bay Acquire ‘The Day’

22 March 2012 6:24 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Of all the indie dramas I’ve kept my eye on, one, Cherry, has been toiling in relative silence. Ashley Hinshaw (Chronicle) is playing a young girl who descends into the dangerous world of pornography, while James Franco, Dev Patel, Heather Graham, and Lili Taylor play her friends and those who exploit her along the way.

But the best kind of news has come in from Variety, who say that, despite a mediocre trailer and apathetic reviews, IFC will be putting out Stephen Elliot‘s film later this year. Nothing has been said about the release — I’m thinking summer, if only because of basic intuition and virtually nothing else — with VOD probably complimenting the theatrical run. It’s just how they do things.

Meanwhile, THR tells us that Cinedigm and New Video have acquired rights to Citadel, Ciaràn Foy‘s Irish horror picture that came out of this year »

BBC America A scene from “No Kitchen Required

To capture the remote locales in BBC America’s first original series “No Kitchen Required,” executive producer and director Chachi Senior looked to the stylistic vision of film directors Terrence Malick and Ridley Scott. He used long lenses and short depth of field, shooting the series much like a baseball game or a Nascar race. Over 90 percent of his camera crew came from feature films, a decision that landed many serendipitous moments on film. »
