A psychological thriller about a man who bumps into an old flame and subsequently becomes obsessed with her, leading him to hold her captive underneath the animal shelter where he works. But what will the victim have in store for her assailant?
The pure genius of Carles Torrens’s Pet is that it constantly plays with audience expectations. Just when you think you’ve got Pet all worked out, Jeremy Slater’s script pulls out the rug, creating one of the best cinematic and storytelling experiences of 2016.
Dominic Monaghan is almost unrecognisable since his days on Lost and The Lord of The Rings as the very troubled and lonely Seth and he brings so much to the character. Its a performance that is comparable to Ryan Reynolds in The Voices, but Monaghan does »

Pet Review: A deliciously dark thriller that plays with the viewer for the duration.
Kat Hughes’ Pet review, FrightFest 2016.
Dominic Monaghan is Seth, a mild-mannered man who works at the local dog pound. A perpetual loner, Seth struggles to fit in with his work colleagues and finds solace in the canine companions he cares for instead. Things change after a chance meeting with past high-school crush, Holly (Ksenia Solo). Instantly smitten with the beautiful and alluring young woman, Seth finds himself obsessed, and after his innocent attempts to win Holly’s heart fail, he takes to more drastic methods.
Following her home one night he kidnaps Holly and imprisons her in a cage within the bowels of the dog pound. Whilst initially Seth has the upper hand it soon becomes clear that Holly isn’t as pure as people think.

New York. Stockholm. Over the course of the last 12 months, young, blonde and blue-eyed women have been turning up dead in a field of asphodel flowers. Through a special dispensation from the NYPD, Detective Tommy Conley (Dominic Monaghan) is given permission to observe and advise the Stockholm Pd. If you were to poll a large group of gamers regarding which developers they consider to have the best overall track record, you’d likely get a lot of repeated answers. Many would look to Rockstar and its studios, or Naughty Dog, which is another incredibly talented team. Neither would be wrong, nor would an assortment of other answers. That said, one developer that would make the top of my list, and maybe wouldn’t receive the recognition it deserves, is Finland’s Remedy Entertainment. They’re the folks who brought us such great interactive experiences as Max Payne, Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.
Remedy is back this month with a new and very ambitious project. Of course, I’m talking about Quantum Break, which is a game that was first shown all the way back at the Xbox One’s reveal event. It captivated our attention then, »

Dominic Monaghan is scared for his life after an accused stalker threatened to assassinate him just like the famous Beatle. As TMZ reported, Meredith McLarty's been harassing the actor since 2014 ... but things got real scary when cops say she tweeted, "Three words ...Mark David Chapman..." She went on, "Save #domswildthings." Chapman's the guy who killed John Lennon in 1980 and @domswildthings is Monaghan's Twitter handle ... so it's pretty clear McLarty threatened to murder the actor. [Guest reporter Jenny Nulf shares her impressions of three movies from this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, including I Am Not a Serial Killer, I Am a Hero, and Pet.]
I Am Not a Serial Killer: What happens when a movie gets stuck in limbo for three years? Well, the director is given enough time to create a slow-burning monster movie that will lurk in the back of your mind long after viewing it.
In a tiny Midwestern town, John Wayne Cleaver (Max Records) works with his mother and aunt at a funeral home, helping her embalm the dead bodies. A possible sociopath, John also chats regularly with his psychologist, Dr. Neblin (Karl Geary), about how to subside his murderous tendencies. Then things start to go wrong when an actual serial killer sweeps through the town, and when Max discovers the identity of the killer, it takes him down a terrifying path of self-discovery. This is not your average, sweet coming-of-age story.
I Am Not a Serial Killer’s slow and methodic pace will keep some at bay, but director »

A woman is locked in a cage by a man who wants to change her. That's both a metaphor for too many modern relationships and the premise of a new film by director Carles Torrens (Apartment 143). Seth (Dominic Monaghan), an animal shelter worker in Los Angeles, sees former schoolmate Holly (Ksenia Solo) on a bus one day and tries to rekindle their acquaintance. Holly politely declines but soon finds herself an object of unwanted attention from Seth. He tracks her down through social media and shows up at a restaurant where she works as a waitress. Holly, still dealing with the ramifications of ending a relationship that wasn't working out, is none too happy about Seth's increasingly pushy and demanding attitude, and tries her...
