Perhaps because ABC owns General Hospital outright, the network sometimes doesn't announce if their sole surviving soap opera has been renewed for another season. (They didn't make an announcement about the 2016-17 season.) Of course, they'd certainly let us know if the show had been cancelled. Will Gh survive to see a 55th season  (2017-18)? New Dancing Queen! Alec Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska Welcome Daughter Leia Josephine

Edyta Sliwinska is a mom again!

The former Dancing with the Stars pro gave birth to a baby girl named Leia Josephine Mazo — her second child with husband Alec Mazo — on Sunday, June 18, Sliwinska’s rep confirms to People exclusively. Born at 7:08 p.m., little Leia weighed in at 7 lbs. and measured 20 inches long.

“The new family of four are over the moon and absolutely in love with their little princess,” the rep tells People.

Sliwinska, 36, and Mazo are also parents to 3-year-old son Michael Alexander, whom they welcomed into the world in January 2014.

It’s one of the most coveted prizes on television, but Dancing with the Stars‘ Mirrorball Trophy actually comes from a quite humble beginning.

Based on the British reality competition Strictly Come Dancing, DWTS launched in 2005 with few expectations.

“With all due respect to the show, we didn’t think it was going to last more than one season,” DWTS production designer James Yarnell tells People. “But we decided we wanted one that looked more like a trophy than the Strictly Come Dancing prize, which was basically a mirrorball on a stick.”
