Attendees at next month’s Cannes Film Festival will hear plenty of French being spoken — except, that is, by the characters onscreen. Of the French films recently announced as part of this year’s official selection, two (Olivier Dahan’s opening-nighter “Grace of Monaco” and Olivier Assayas’ “Clouds of Sils Maria”) are predominately English-language features with largely American and British casts, while “The Search,” from “The Artist” helmer Michel Hazanavicius, reportedly features a mix of English, French, Chechnyan and Russian. Meanwhile, in the festival’s Un Certain Regard sidebar, “Lady Chatterley” director Pascale Ferran’s “Bird People” is another hybrid English/French affair, with a cast that includes Josh Charles, Radha Mitchell and Clark Johnson.
On the one hand, this may seem fated in a year when reliable linguistic provocateur Jean-Luc Godard will be present in the Cannes competition with a film titled “Goodbye to Language.” On the other, this »

THR reports Bacon has signed on to headline 6 Miranda Drive and that Mitchell is now in talks to co-star. Jason Blum will produce, and Aussie horror auteur Greg Mclean wrote and will direct. Our series of lists devoted to underappreciated films brings us to the year 2010, and another 25 overlooked gems...
By 2010, Hollywood’s obsession with 3D movies was in full swing. James Cameron’s Avatar may have given audiences a taste of what the cutting edge of stereoscope could look like, but it has to be said that the movies ushered into cinemas in its wake were a decidedly mixed bunch. Toy Story 3's 3D was extraordinarily effective, yet Clash Of The Titans looked like a blurry mess. How To Train Your Dragon came to life in its flying sequences, but the less said about the horribly murky Last Airbender, the better.
Unless we’re mistaken, none of the movies on this list were shot or released in 3D, and few of them did particularly stellar business. A few got a certain amount of critical acclaim, »
The movie will also feature actress Radha Mitchell, who is in negotiations to feature along side Bacon in the movie, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
"6 Miranda Drive", written by Mclean, centres on a family that unwittingly brings a fear-feeding supernatural force with them when they return from a Grand Canyon vacation.
The movie will be shot here in March.

Kevin Bacon is enjoying a pretty robust time in his career. With "The Following" turning out to be a hit series (regardless of how incredibly brain dead many of its characters are), he's now taking up residence in a new chiller from Blumhouse. Read on for details.

As if he didn’t have enough horror to deal with thanks to James Purefoy in The Following and appearing in those cheesy Ee adverts, Kevin Bacon has accepted a role in the latest Blumhouse thriller, 6 Miranda Dr.And, since she’s in the middle of making a deal for the film, Radha Mitchell will apparently star as his wife in the story of a family who unwittingly bring something nasty back from a holiday to the Grand Canyon. No, it’s not the ghost of an annoyed donkey who was taken on too many trail walks; it’s a fear-powered supernatural force that creates havoc in their usually quiet home. Like Patrick Wilson and the Insidious gang, it’s probably going to be a problem to shake: if it managed to make it all the way from the Canyon, a change of address won’t really help.Wolf Creek »

**Nothing about the personal life of Woody Allen will be discussed herein. This is a feature about his work and only that.**
Blue Jasmine has not only put Woody Allen back on the map, it’s given Cate Blanchett a career defining role. But you know that because you’ve seen it… Oh you haven’t seen it? Then you may not know it also stars Louis Ck, one of the world’s greatest stand-up comedians. In fact, over the last decade, the diminutive director has released a film a year, from the terrific (Midnight In Paris) to the downright forgettable (Cassandra’S Dream… No, me either). In that time he’s worked with some people you might not expect. For instance…

We reminisce below over the humble Aussie acting beginnings of other Hollywood actors and actresses - and see which soaps spawned the most successful stars:
Chris Hemsworth played Jamie Kane in Neighbours back in 2002 and was in Home and Away as Kim Hyde from 2004 to 2007. The Aussie actor has since appeared in Hollywood blockbusters like Thor and The Avengers, and most recently played the late James Hunt in Ron Howard's Rush.
Screen Daily reports that Mitchell will star in the adaptation of S.J. Bolton's novel of the same name, alongside Rupert Graves and Colm Meaney. Mitchell will play a consultant surgeon trying in vain to have a child with her husband, played by Graves.
Her discovery of a mutilated woman’s body leads to shocking revelations as her husband, boss and local police try to persuade her to drop the matter.
Peter Dowling (Flight Plan) wrote the screenplay and will direct, and production is scheduled to begin in Dublin in late March.
Arnold Rifkind’s Cheyenne Enterprises will produce with Ireland-based Subotica.
