- Monty Miranda is a director, writer and producer. He was born at Hahn Air Base, Germany. He began his post high school studies at the Air Force Academy and after six challenging months and one easy decision; he resigned and enrolled in the University of Colorado to study filmmaking and journalism. Mr. Miranda's first experience as a Director was with the unauthorized use of the family Super 8 mm movie camera at age eight; which ignited his passion for filmmaking. Miranda founded the production company, Incite Films. Through that Denver based company Miranda directed hundreds of national television commercials for a variety of clients ranging from McDonalds to TIVO. In addition to commercials Incite Films created the first national video game television series: Twitch which ran for two seasons and Mr. Miranda directed. Monty Miranda's feature film directorial debut, Skills Like This, won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the SXSW Film Festival. In over 20 film festival appearances the darkly comic film continued on to receive "Best of the Fest" honors at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Grand Jury Prize for Best American Feature Jacksonville Film Festival and a Free Spirit Award Nomination at the Warsaw International Film Festival. Upon the film's theatrical release Miranda received strong reviews from The New York Times, "...eye catching direction", SALON, "cheerfully anarchic...indescribably genuine", to Variety, "...artfully directed with considerable intelligence and chemistry." Following the release of SKILLS LIKE THIS Miranda directed the thriller The Insomniac starring Danny Trejo and John Heard, and American Mustang, Miranda's first 3D motion picture. Recent work include Miranda's international VISA film campaign shot on location in Brazil for the FIFA WORLD CUP and continued works for his client NIKE.
