Ever since he first stepped into the iconic role of Luke Skywalker over 40 years ago, Mark Hamill‘s been a pop culture icon and one of the most beloved actors out there. For fans of Star Wars, he’s more or less a king, but even for just casual moviegoers and the general public, he’s a well respected and admired performer, one who’s got numerous credits under his belt that make up what’s been a hugely successful career.

Aside from his role in that galaxy far, far away, Hamill’s also quite well known for voicing the Joker in numerous animated efforts from DC, leading many to proclaim him as their favorite version of the Clown Prince of Crime, even rivalling the work that Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger did in the role. Newswire: Carnage will be the big bad in Sony’s Venom movie

21 June 2017 1:02 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Tom Hardy’s Venom movie might be connected to the new Spider-Man universe in some way, but it seems extremely unlikely that Spidey himself will be the main antagonist in the film. After all, it’s supposed to be a solo spinoff, not a straight-up Spider-Man movie, so anything more than a cameo would probably be too distracting. Without Venom’s chief rival out, that really only leaves one character who would make sense as the villain in Venom’s first solo movie, and it sounds like Sony has recognized that: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carnage will be the big bad in Venom.

In the comics, Carnage is an alien Symbiote like Venom, but instead of bonding with a moderately evil reporter like Eddie Brock, Carnage bonds with a totally evil serial killer named Cletus Kasady. Sony hasn’t announced who’s playing Carnage yet, but Lin-Manuel Miranda has »

Why Sony Pictures Animation Still Needs a Big Hit – and Where It Might Come From

15 June 2017 1:05 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Annecy, France — Having sprinted to deliver toon movies this year in near record time, Sony Pictures Animation has a brace of new animated feature originals on deck for potential 2020/21 release, Kristine Belson, Sony Pictures Animation president announced at France’s Annecy Festival Thursday night, delivering a masterclass on Re-Shaping Sony Pictures Animation.

Four of the five projects which Belson went on to talk about in some detail, without implying they will be Spa’s only releases over 2020/21, are from first-time directors.

In contrast, Spa looks set not to release any movie at all in 2019, she added.

That may seem like an original move by a new Hollywood animation studio head, but it’s one way of confronting Spa’s major challenge. Producing animated features since 2006’s “Open Season,” Sony Pictures Animation has still to fire up a “Despicable Me” size franchise which can, as Belson out, provide a transformational moment, »

It’s been 22 years since writer and director Edgar Wright dreamt up the idea for what would become “Baby Driver.”

His short answer for what took so long to get his passion project to the big screen? He was waiting for Ansel Elgort to be the leading man.

Elgort, who plays the titular character, and Wright were joined by co-stars Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Lily James and Eiza Gonzalez for the Los Angeles premiere of “Baby Driver” at the Ace Hotel in Downtown L.A. Wednesday night.

DuckTales Opening, Poster, & Premiere Dates Revealed!

14 June 2017 1:40 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

For folks like me, DuckTales played a big part in your childhood. Between the comedy and mix of high adventure, it helped to scratch a very specific itch on TV shows that not a lot of animated series did back then. However, as great as iconic I found the series to be, perhaps what it’s best known for is its catchy opening theme. As someone who watched the show, catching that opening them was an integral part of the actual experience of watching the show (very much how the opening of an anime is an integral part of the show itself).

If for some reason, you don’t remember that opening (or if you've never seen it), take a look:

For as long as we’ve known that Disney Xd would be reviving DuckTales for a modern audience, we’ve been wondering how they’d handle the opening theme. »

TV Ratings: Tony Awards Tumble Without ‘Hamilton’

12 June 2017 8:49 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The 2017 Tony Awards were down significantly from last year according to Nielsen overnight data, which is not surprising given the fact that Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton” was the main attraction in 2016.

This year’s ceremony drew a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers, airing on CBS from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. That is compared to a 1.6 and 8.7 million viewers in 2016, which represents a drop of approximately 44% in the demo and 31% in total viewers.

On NBC, the second installment of “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” (0.9, 4.3 million) ticked up in the demo, but was down in total viewers from the premiere episode last week, which drew a 0.8 and 6.2 million viewers. NBC also aired Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, which is currently averaging a 2.1 and 6.5 million viewers. However, due to the nature of live sports that number will likely adjust up later today. In addition, Kelly aired before the Stanley Cup game in the Eastern U.S »
