Show Premise

“Out of the Crossfire, beyond Hardball, this is Crossballs!”

A parody of political debate shows, Crossballs has comedians pose as experts in their field to discuss the issue of the day and pits them against real life experts who are not aware of the farce debate they are participating in. The comedians argue both sides of an issue, be it ridiculous or not, and mine comedy from taking the issue to absurd lengths and goading reactions from the real experts.

Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback, which she announced will be returning for a third season.

John Singleton is poised to be the next filmmaker to make the leap to television, as FX has picked up the pilot for Snowfall, a show co-created by Singleton. The press release had this summary of the series.

Los Angeles 1981. A storm is coming and its name is cocaine. Snowfall is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows three characters on a violent collision course: Franklin Saint, young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata, a Mexican wrestler turned gangster in search of his American dream; and Logan Miller, a prominent family’s “black sheep” desperate to escape his father’s shadow.

Singleton will also direct the pilot.

'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' season 1: Catchy songs, crazy guests, and more

12 March 2015 12:15 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

I finished "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season 1 last night. My overall, very positive opinion hasn't changed much from my original review, but I have a few random thoughts on it (with spoilers, of course), coming up just as soon as you troll the respawn, Jeremy... Numbered "Kimmy" thoughts, in no particular order: 1)I need to make the theme song a ringtone so it can stay in my life always, because females are strong as hell, and it's catchy as hell. 2)Ellie Kemper is joy, and Fey, Carlock and company can still sling crazy jokes like they did on "30 Rock." That said, where "30 Rock" could often do great, hilarious things when Liz was largely absent, this show almost always works best when Kimmy is directly involved. As Kimmy's barely-qualified guide to modern life, Titus is a wonderful character; off on his own, he's very hit-or-miss. Ditto Jacqueline and Lillian and the different recurring characters. »
