Ignore the title – this film has ‘hipster’ written all over it! Today we can bring you the trailer for indie drama I Am Not A Hipster, a Sundance Film Festival 2012 favourite, directed by Destin Cretton.
The film follows Brook (Dominic Bogart), a talented but tortured singer/songwriter who is struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother. His life is suddenly shaken up by the arrival of his three sisters (Lauren Coleman, Tammy Minoff and Kandis Erickson), as they travel to scatter their mother’s ashes. Their magical charm seems to rub off onto Brook, as he starts to think he might find some hope after all.
Although the reviews seem to have blown people away, the trailer really doesn’t impress me; it irritates me more than anything. Hasn’t the ‘depressed, self-absorbed musician’ character been done to death already? Apparently not.

"A film that, even if you hate hipsters, you may fall in love with, just like me." Yep, that's what I'm quoted as saying (from this review) in this new and, likely, final trailer for Destin Cretton's I Am Not a Hipster, a film that premiered at Sundance last year as one of my favorites of the fest. Despite that title and what it sounds like, it's not a film about hipsters, it's an emotional, entertaining, heartfelt and easily lovable indie musical drama about a struggling family. Dominic Bogart stars as Brook, with Tammy Minoff, Lauren Coleman and Kandis Erickson as his three sisters, and Alvaro Orlando as his friend. I re-watched this recently and really enjoyed it again, such a great film, it's worth seeing when possible. Fantastic final trailer.
