Feature Mark Harrison 25 Mar 2013 - 07:09
The Croods is the latest feature from DreamWorks Animation. But what does the future hold for the studio? Mark takes a look...
Arch your left eyebrow, for a moment. Good. Now, tilt your head to the side. I'll leave the smile up to you, but you must either smirk or give a big cheesy grin. You're now on your way to looking a lot like the DreamWorks Face, the expression that used to appear in pretty much every DreamWorks Animation film, usually on a talking animal of some description.
The thing is, in the past, all of DreamWorks' movies were comedies. It's since the studio has branched out into other genres, while retaining their sense of humour, that we've started sitting up and taking notice again.
For a while there, it looked like DreamWorks Animation had turned into the very corporate machine that it set out to lampoon: Disney. »

DreamWorks Animation has announced that Mr. Peabody and Sherman has been moved to March, 7, 2014 from its original date of November 1, 2013. They have also put a hold on Me and My Shadow, which was due to hit theaters March 14, 2014. The studio is decided to make the changes due to a recommendation from its distributor Twentieth Century Fox.
Chief Marketing Officer of DreamWorks Animation Anne Globe had this to say about the changes.
"Our distributor, who has had great success in March with their Ice Age franchise, has recommended we move Mr. Peabody and Sherman to the spring of 2014, which we totally agree is a much more advantageous release window. Mr. Peabody and Sherman is now the first of our three-picture lineup for next year."
Their feature film lineup for 2013 and 2014 will include The Croods on March 22, 2013, Turbo on July 19, 2013, Mr. Peabody and Sherman on March 7, 2014, How to Train Your Dragon 2 on June 20, 2014 and Happy Smekday! »

Let’s face it, animated films are a huge deal. To the studios that make them, they are a guaranteed cash cow. Next to Pixar, Dreamworks Animation is right at the top of the heap with hits like Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon, and the Madagascar films. HeyUGuys was invited to New York this week to take a look at what Dreamworks has in store for us in 2013, and I can tell you, it’s pretty cool.
I made my way to the screening location, where we were able to watch roughly half hour of footage from the three films slated for release next year: The Croods, Turbo and Mr. Peabody And Sherman. What I saw was incredible, even though a lot of the footage was still not complete. All of the films will be released in 3-D, and judging from the content, they should be amazing! So let’s get right to it. »
