Yahoo! Movies points us to the first set photo of Scarlett Johansson on the set of Hitchcock, the new movie from Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi that follows the famous director during the making of his horror classic, Psycho.
The film was actually once titled Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, but it's since been truncated down to the director's last name. It's got an amazing cast, which includes Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as his wife, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Ralph Macchio as Joe Stefano, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, and of course, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, the actress who starred in one of the most famous scenes in movie history: the shower scene.
I'm intrigued by this project - not just because Hopkins looks shocking like Hitchcock, but because I really enjoyed Gervasi's documentary about an 80s hair metal band and »

Director Sacha Gervasi's upcoming biopic, which will tell the story of the acclaimed suspense director's relationship with his wife while filming was underway for Psycho, is currently filming in England. Stephen Robello wrote the book on which the film will be based. The story follows Hitchcock, who was at the height of his popularity as a director, as he scrounged for financiing for Psycho. No studio wanted to touch the property as it was considered just a "lowly" horror film. At the heart of the story is the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife. Hitchcock stars Anthony Hopkins in the title role, Helen Mirren as his wife Alma Reville, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles as well as Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg and Kurtwood Smith.. Following last month’s reveal of Anthony Hopkins fairly spot-on physical transformation of the legendary director Alfred Hitchcock, more first looks have come our way from the set of Sacha Gervasi‘s Hitchcock. The film take a look at just a portion of his life, telling the romance (or lack thereof) between him as his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren), with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his classic horror film Psycho.
Hot off the record-breaking box office hit The Avengers, Scarlett Johansson portrays the famous actress and lead in the film Janet Leigh. From DailyMail, we have our first look of her on set, which certainly looks to be visually on-point. Following that we get a look at Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, but she doesn’t seem to be in an official costume, so we can only go by her fitting hairdo. Check out the photos below »

Voting is currently underway on the Sight & Sound poll for the greatest film ever made, which takes place every ten years, and is generally seen as one of the most definitive of such polls. And one film that's near-certain to place in the top ten, given that it's been there in every poll since 1982 (and placed second in 2002) is Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo." The film was relatively poorly received on release, and indeed, remained unseen for twenty years, one of the five films to which Hitchcock bought back the rights to leave to his daughter (the so-called Five Lost Hitchcocks, which also include "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "Rear Window," "Rope" and "The Trouble With Harry"). But since its re-release in 1984, the film has grown into the great director's most acclaimed masterpiece, and is now one of the most examined, deconstructed and written about films in the history of the medium. »

For those of you tuning in late, let it be known that Hollywood is in the grips of an Alfred Hitchcock epidemic, which finds films about the master of suspense, as well as remakes of his work, gathering and attacking studios like the violent, crazed birds from Hitch's 1963 classic, The Birds...which, fittingly, is one of the flicks being remade.
Anyway, the Hitchcock movie we're most excited about is Sacha Gervasi's Hitchcock, previously known as Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. As you can probably guess, it's about Alfred Hitchcock and the making of Psycho. The flick stars Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock; Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh; Helen Mirren as Hitch's wife, Alma; James D'Arcy as Tony Perkins; and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles.
I think the casting is pretty good, but the heart of the film will be Hopkins' work as Hitchcock. And while it will be »

As you may or may not already know, there are two separate Alfred Hitchcock biopics on the way, one due to air on the BBC later this year, and the other aiming for a 2013 theatrical release. The latter has just started production as of last week and stars Sir Anthony Hopkins in the lead role with Helen Mirren playing his wife, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles. It's called Hitchcock and it is being directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil). The very first photo of Anthony Hopkins as Hitch has hit the web this week courtesy of People Magazine and, if you ask me, it looks pretty impressive. Granted, it may not look quite as good head on, but they've clearly captured his profile and now it will be up to Hopkins to replicate his very distinctive voice and mannerisms. Constrast this with the other biopic, »

It's amazing what a lot of makeup can do. Seriously. Check out this new image of Anthony Hopkins portraying Alfred Hitchcock! The Oscar winner has successfully transformed himself into the legendary filmmaker for the upcoming movie Hitchcock, which focuses on the iconic director's efforts to make a little piece of cinema known as Psycho. Production on the film began, appropriately enough, last Friday the 13th. Hopkins is part of an all-star cast that includes Helen Mirren as Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville; Scarlett Johansson as original scream queen Janet Leigh; Jessica Biel as actress Vera Miles; and James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins. Over the years, filmmakers have tried (and failed) to imitate the original Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. However, Anthony Hopkins is sure doing his best to at least look like the late director. In the first photo from the upcoming biopic, "Hitchcock," the Oscar-winning actor imitates Alfred's iconic silhouette (jowls included). Amazingly, Sir Hopkins is almost unrecognizable in the picture. The film, which chronicles the making of the iconic horror movie "Psycho," began principal photography just last week. Along with Hopkins, "Hitchcock" stars Helen Mirren as Alma, the director's wife; Scarlett Johansson as "Psycho" star Janet Leigh; James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins a.k.a. Norman Bates; and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles. Could another Oscar be in store for Sir Anthony? If this picture is any indication, then yes. "Hitchcock," directed by Sacha Gervasi, is set for a 2013 release date. [via People and Fox Searchlight] »

Cue the Alfred Hitchcock Presents music!
Anthony Hopkins is attempting to step into the shadow of the legendary director for the movie, Hitchcock, the story behind the making of Psycho, so it makes perfect sense that the first image of the Oscar-winner playing the director captures his iconic silhouette. Head titled back, heavy-lidded eyes, jowly. Not bad, Mr. Hopkins. You can practically hear the auteur’s slow, phlegmatic drawl.
The movie began shooting last week, with Helen Mirren as Hitch’s wife, Alma, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Michael Stuhlbarg as Lew Wasserman, »

Principle photography on Sacha Gervasi's Alfred Hitchcok biopic creatively titled "Hitchcock" began last Friday in Los Angeles. The film will star Anthony Hopkins as Hitch with Helen Mirren as his wife Alma Reville. Well, I guess it's not a true "biopic." Based on the book "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho" by Stephen Rebello, the film will tell the behind-the-scenes story of Hitchcock's brilliant thriller. James D'Arcy has been tapped to play "Psycho" star Anthony Perkins while Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel will play actresses Janet Leigh and Vera Miles, respectively. I have to hand it to the make-up department on Hitchcock. They were even able to give Anthony Hopkins the auteur’s famous jowls. Surprisingly, he also resembles Michael Caine as Alfred from the Batman films a little bit as well. Co-starring Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Hitchcock will follow the tension on and off camera during the making of the classic film Psycho. Since I recently discovered some of Alfred Hitchcock’s older films – you can find those recent Blu-ray reviews listed under the reviews on the right - I find myself curious about this project. Or maybe it’s just my love for Johansson and Biel. Either way . . . this new photo shows promise. The film just began filming last week and is set for release next year.

Sneak Peek an image of actor Anhtony Hopkins, made up to look like the late, great film director Alfred Hitchcock.
Hopkins stars in director Sasha Gervasi's Fox Searchlight feature "Alfred Hitchcock" based on the book by author Stephen Rebello. Published in 1990, the book details all aspects of the creation of Hitchcock's thriller "Psycho' released to theaters in 1960. From Hitchcock's acquisition of the original novel by author Robert Bloch to his work with screenwriters, casting, filming, editing, scoring, and promotion, the book takes readers into the day-to-day lives of moviemakers who believed they were making a modestly budgeted, black-and-white shocker that represented a radical departure from the elegant, suspenseful films that made Hitchcock's reputation.
Rebello researched Hitchcock's personal records and archives, interviewing most of the "Psycho" surviving cast and crew members.
Prior to the book's publication, Rebello's initial research appeared as a 22-page article in the »

The first image of Sir Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock, has been released. The cinematic makeup sleight-of-hand is all for the newly titled Hitchcock from Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello, the film is a love story about Hitch and his wife/partner Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren, during the making of the legendary director's seminal film Psycho. The story also tracks the obstacles that the English filmmaker had to overcome to make a "lowly" horror movie that no Hollywood studio wanted to touch. Of course, Psycho went on to become one of Hitchcock's biggest hits and one of the most influential movies of all time.

This is our first look at Anthony Hopkins as legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchock, and it's pretty damn creepy how much he looks like the guy! Hopkins plays the director in a new film that focuses on the making of Psycho. I can't wait to see Hopkins performance in this movie!
The movie was previously called Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, but now it's just called Hitchcock. It's based on Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book, which tells the true story of Hitchcock's attempts to finance Psycho. The story also focuses on the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife.
The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson, who will play Janet Leigh, who was famously stabbed to death in the shower in the film. James D'Arcy was cast in the role of Anthony Perkins, who played Norman Bates, Helen Mirren plays his wife, Jessica Biel is playing Vera Miles and Ralph Macchio »

Fox Searchlight Pictures has released this first look of Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming drama Hitchcock (via People.com). Last week principal photography for Hitchcock started on April 13th in Los Angeles. I have to admit, with all the prosthetics on, the resemblance is remarkable.
