Radio Times reports ITV has cancelled the UK TV series Brief Encounters after only one season.Created by Oriane Messina and Fay Rusling, the 1980s-set drama "charted the early years of retail company Ann Summers through the prism of four women who find fulfilment from selling lingerie and sex toys to customers within the privacy of their own homes." 'Me & Mrs Jones' dropped after one series by BBC One

BBC One comedy Me & Mrs Jones will not return for a second series. Writer Oriane Messina confirmed the show's axe on Twitter, blaming the cancellation on disappointing audience numbers. "We just didn't get the ratings we needed," Messina wrote. "Tough time slot didn't help but we know lots of you loved it." Irish actor Robert Sheehan has landed a role on new BBC One sitcom 'Me & Mrs Jones'. The 'Love/Hate' star will join Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly) and Sarah Alexander (Smack the Pony) in the Oriane Messina and Fay Rusling-penned comedy. Neil Morrissey and Sarah Alexander have signed up to star in a new BBC One sitcom. Me & Mrs Jones is written by Green Wing's Oriane Messina and Fay Rusling, and directed by Doctor Who's Nick Hurran. Rules of Love's Serena Cullen will produce. The comedy centres around Mrs Jones (Alexander) as she juggles motherhood and her love life. TV Review: Campus, 1.1 – “Publication, Publication, Publication”

I wasn’t a fan of Green Wing, the semi-improved comedy based on scripts that were a hodgepodge of jokes, sketches and sight gags gathered from a hive-mind of writers. It was an interesting way to produce a single-camera sitcom, and one that clearly found an audience, but I found its scattergun approach quite tiring. Many of Green Wing‘s writers are behind Channel 4′s new comedy offering Campus, which won’t escape “Green Wing in a university” branding, because that’s exactly what it is. The uni’s motto is even “with wings”.

“Publication, Publication, Publication” was a 70-minute extension of the half-hour Comedy Showcase pilot from 2009 (including adverts), which basically means there was an awful lot of filler.
