Mini Biography

Louise Messenger has a well earned position in the hearts of her fans for her vocal abilities. With over 15 years of choral training, Louise is well versed in all aspects of the voice, with special focus on harmonies and vocal blending, which has come as a result of her time spent with both the Adelaide and Australian Girls Choir. In this time, she performed at many occasions in the Adelaide Festival Theater (equivalent to the Opera House), for esteemed guests, and performed her first solo at the Festival Theater with Katie Underwood (from Bardot), and backed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Louise also performed there in more lighthearted situations, such as with James Morrison, and on several occasions with Peter Coombe, who is renowned for his children's songs. Always the performer, Louise excelled in drama at school, and performed stage roles in both large productions ('Wizard of Oz' as Dorothy and also a lead role in the 'Pied Piper of Hamlin'), and also smaller, more individual focused parts such as 'The Summer of the 17th Doll'. After taking a side step into the challenging world of high fashion retail management (during which time she also was involved with modeling), Louise commenced performing as part of a live act. Initially with an Adelaide band "Fresh", who perform Top 40 tunes, Louise toured other states, gaining a reputation for her soulful renditions of popular hits. At the same time Louise was one of the founding members of a new romantic band, known as A-T's, through which she could indulge her love for all that is 80's, including clothing and dance styles. It was here that Louise truly showed her adaptability to all situations, to take on a role, and perform it to perfection. After being involved with the Popstars project, Louise decided that it was time for a change musically, and joined the 'Cover Girls'. This allowed for her to focus on the harmonies that she loves so, and also to hone her skills as a dancer. The Popstars experience was rewarding in this respect, as it showed that formal dance training is not a prerequisite for pop stardom. Out of the final ten, Louise & Katie were the only girls not professionally trained in dance, and to get that far against 2000 people, many of whom were trained dancers is a feat in itself. Little is mentioned of the fact that Louise and Katie have been friends since primary school, but the rumours of a Poptarts/Bardot feud are totally incorrect. The girls are all friends, and certainly not in competition due to their differing music styles. More recently Louise has been working on her own music, which is a strong blend of pop and funk, perfectly suited to her unique, rich voice. Commuting to Sydney has become an enjoyable part of her life, and the Poptarts project enables her to spend time with the rest of the group, all of which are great friends. To the Poptarts Louise brings together all the facets of her career thus far; a fantastic voice that is perfectly suited to pure soul and jazz numbers, and is equally at home with straight up choral accapella's. Add to this her natural ability to harmonise at the drop of a hat, and her rational, level headed management skills, and you have a force that is seldom seen in new pop acts today. The camera loves her (and she it), and as a spokesperson for young women, she is an intelligent, beautiful role model.
