George Merritt was born on December 10, 1890 in Clapton, London, England as Hubert Gotts. He was an actor, known for Horror of Dracula (1958), The Girl Was Young (1937) and A Canterbury Tale (1944). He died on August 27, 1977 in Parliament Hill, Hampstead, London.

Trivia (1)

Heavy-set British character actor, prolific on the London stage. Started acting at nineteen and studied drama in Germany at the outbreak of World War I, which led to his internment in a prisoner-of-war camp for four years. In films from 1931, he had a strong line in disgruntled types or deceptively obtuse authority figures.
