Canceled 'As the World Turns' Steals Spotlight at 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards

Although it is facing cancellation after 53 years on TV, "As the World Turns" stole the spotlight at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. On Sunday, June 27 at the Las Vegas Hilton, the soap opera, which airs each weekday on CBS and will end its run in September, has won trophies for three of its stars, Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson.

Michael won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Maura nabbed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julie secured the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Upon accepting his award, tearful Michael in particular thanked his on-screen romance Maura and bid an emotional farewell to the show.

"We had to say goodbye to over 60 members of our family on Wednesday. It was heartbreaking, and I pray you never have to endure what we endured on Wednesday," the 41-year-old actor who won his first Emmy on the special night said. »

2010 Daytime Emmys welcome Ryan Seacrest, Wayne Brady, Vanessa Marcil and more

The 2010 Daytime Emmys are live from Las Vegas Sunday, June 27. Hosted by Regis Philbin, the awards are welcoming "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest to introduce an "American Bandstand" and Dick Clark tribute that will feature Chubby Checker, the Jersey Boys, Donny Osmond and Tony Orlando.

The telecast is also welcoming Wayne Brady, Vanessa Marcil, Jeff Foxworthy and Alex Trebek as presenters and a performance by the Las Vegas production of "The Lion King" musical.

Presenters previously announced include: Rachael Ray, Zack Conroy, Jonathan Jackson, Dr. Travis Stork, Dr. Drew Ordon, Dr. Jim Sears and Dr. Lisa Masterson from "The Doctors," Rebecca Budig, Sharon Case, Michael Easton, Jon Hensley, Kelley Menighan Hensley, Susan Lucci and many more.

The 37th annual Daytime Emmys air Sunday, June 27 at 9 p.m. Et (tape-delayed on the West Coast) on CBS.

Plans for the 37th annual Daytime Emmy Awards are moving along. Several big names will be presenting awards including Rachael Ray, Susan Lucci ("All My Children"), Montel Williams, Chris and Kyle Massey. The telecast, hosted by Regis Philbin, will broadcast live from the Las Vegas Hilton on Sunday, June 27 (9-11 p.m., live Et/delayed Pt) on CBS.Also on hand to present will be Rebecca Budig ("AMC"), Sharon Case ("The Young and the Restless"), Michael Easton ("One Life to Live"), Jon Hensley ("As the World Turns"), his real-life wife, Kelley Menighan Hensley ("Atwt"), Cameron Mathison ("AMC"), Kimberly Matula ("The Bold and the Beautiful"), Kelly Monaco ("General Hospital"), Joshua Morrow ("Y&R"), Ronn Moss ("B&B"), Peter Reckell ("Days of Our Lives"), Trevor St. John ("Oltl") and Louise Sorel ("Dool").     Associated Television International will produce the show, with Ati President and Emmy Award-winning producer David McKenzie serving as executive producer. »

We now have the official word on who will be flying to Sin City to present at the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Well, the first group of presenters, this is.

Daytime Emmy Award nominees Rachael Ray ("The Rachael Ray Show"), Zack Conroy ("The Bold and the Beautiful") and Jonathan Jackson ("General Hospital") as well as Dr. Travis Stork, Dr. Drew Ordon, Dr. Jim Sears and Dr. Lisa Masterson from the Daytime Emmy-nominated show, "The Doctors" are among those selected to present.
